yep, if you are ever in transit, and you get stuck at an airport, you definitely want it to be at Changi Airport. Best airport in the world!!! Amazing how it can maintain its No. 1 spot for so long. You wouldn't think it's that hard to copy the design and/or concepts. It's not like they are so unique or that expensive.

Wouldn't the Butterfly Garden cause problems at customs etc. as a butterfly might be carrying a spreadable disease(s)?

Don't worry, there are measures top ensure that the butterflies stay in the Garden. Besides, I am sure the butterflies lifespan is no more than 1 to 2 weeks if I remember correctly. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Changi Airport Group targets to improve passenger experience

SINGAPORE: Singapore's Changi Airport Group is targeting to have in place a complete range of initiatives to improve passenger experience by end-2011.

This comes under its "The Changi Experience" project.

The initiatives include having terminals placed around the airport for people to give instant feedback on service standards.

Air passengers can also rate the service quality at some of the restaurants at the airport.

The Group has also launched an application for iPhone and iPad users to obtain the latest flight updates on-the-go.

"What we hope to do is to continue to pursue such innovation with a service leader like the Changi Airport Group. And the next thing is to find ways to spread the implementation," said Lim Swee Say, Minister in the Prime Minister's Office.

Touring the airport, Mr Lim stressed the need to raise service standards faster than other countries.

And Changi Airport is an example of this.

"We handle more than 100,000 passengers everyday at the airport. As a result, when there are service lapses and faults, we want to be responsive to these breakdowns, so the Changi Airport passengers will continue to receive the highest level of service," said Foo Sek Min, executive VP of Airport Management, Changi Airport Group.

The disabled are not forgotten either, with wheelchairs placed at key locations within the airport and priority lanes for stress-free boarding.

With all the initiatives in place, the Group hopes to enhance its reputation as one of the world's best air hubs. - CNA/fa/ls

China Cargo Airlines to Fly to Changi Airport
Thomas L. Gallagher | Oct 7, 2010 2:50PM GMT

All-cargo carrier to operate 12 weekly flights beginning Oct. 9

China Cargo Airlines will launch regular service to Singapore Changi Airport with 12 weekly flights beginning Oct. 9.

The Shanghai-based joint venture between China Eastern Airlines and China Ocean Shipping is the third cargo carrier and the fifth airline to commence operations to the airport this year, following Malaysia’s Transmile Air and Indonesia’s Tri-MG Airlines.

The airline will operate 777-200F and MD-11F aircraft, linking Singapore with Bangkok and Shanghai Pudong. The flights will operate every day but Mondays.

China Cargo’s operations bring the number of freighters at Changi to 16. It will increase the number of all-cargo flights between Singapore and China to about 90 per week.

Air cargo traffic at Changi for the first eight months of 2010 increased 15 percent compared with last year to 1.19 million metric tons. In the same period, cargo volume between Singapore and China grew 25 percent. China is one of Singapore’s top three markets for cargo.

“China Cargo Airlines can leverage Singapore as a major gateway to capitalize on intra-Asia trade opportunities with ASEAN countries, India and Australia. We look forward to a strong partnership with China Cargo Airlines and to support their future growth plans from Changi,” said Yam Kum Weng, Changi Airport Group’s executive vice president, air hub development.

Singapore Changi Tops Worldwide Airport Poll

For the second successive year members of Priority Pass, the world’s leading independent airport lounge program, have voted Singapore Changi airport as their favorite, followed closely by Hong Kong Chek Lap Kok. The poll, which had over 9,000 participants from 150 countries, revealed that the two leading Asian airports remain head and shoulders above any others in the world

(PRWEB) October 13, 2010

For the second successive year members of Priority Pass, the world’s leading independent airport lounge program, have voted Singapore Changi airport as their favorite, followed closely by Hong Kong Chek Lap Kok.

The poll, which had over 9,000 participants from 150 countries, revealed that the two leading Asian airports remain head and shoulders above any others in the world.

Next best was Dubai, which is leading the charge of a clutch of airports in the Middle East, vying to capture a greater share of international long-haul transfer traffic.

Best in Europe, according to Priority Pass members, are Copenhagen, Amsterdam Schiphol and Zurich, while Lima takes the crown in Latin America and Houston in North America.

Jonathan French, Head of Brand at Priority Pass, commented, “Priority Pass members take an average of 17 flights a year each, so these results are from a sample of people who, between them, will fly over 150,000 times in 2010. They know what they are talking about! Congratulations are due to the teams at Singapore and Hong Kong airports, where they make traveling a pleasure for our members.”

The table below shows the best airports, as ranked by Priority Pass members.

Singapore Changi
Hong Kong Chek Lap Kok Intl
Dubai World Central Intl
Copenhagen
Amsterdam Schiphol
Seoul Incheon International
Zurich
Lima Jorge Chavez Intl
Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Intl
Houston TX Intercontinental

More details on the survey are available on the Priority Pass website.
