Vladivostok Air lands in Changi Airport
Posted: 21 October 2011 1618 hrs

SINGAPORE: Singapore Changi Airport on Friday welcomed a new airline, Vladivostok Air, that will connect it to the Russian Far East.

Vladivostok Air will be operating twice-weekly services between Singapore and Vladivostok via Hong Kong.

Considered one of Russia's most established airlines, Vladivostok Air will operate A320 aircraft on this route.

The service will depart Vladivostok International Airport on Tuesday and Friday mornings and arrive in Changi Airport on the same day in the evening, at about 6.20pm.

The return flight will depart Changi at 8.10pm and arrive in Vladivostok the following morning.

Vladivostok, in the Russian Far East, is the ninth new city link for Changi this year.

Changi Airport said Vladivostok Air's new service introduces a new holiday destination for Singapore residents.

It will also open the Russian Far East, a potential market of 6.5 million travellers, to Singapore for tourism, medical and educational activities. They can also use Singapore as a transit point to destinations in Southeast Asia and Southwest Pacific.

Changi Airport sees 12.5% more passengers in September
Posted: 24 October 2011 1145 hrs

SINGAPORE: Singapore Changi Airport handled 12.5 per cent more passengers in September compared to the same period a year ago.

Changi Airport Group (CAG) said some 3.82 million passengers passed through the airport last month.

Aircraft movements grew in tandem, increasing by 16.4 per cent to 25,500.

For the first nine months of the year, Changi Airport handled 34.2 million passenger movements, an increase of 11.3 per cent on-year.

CAG said traffic on low-cost carriers rose 26 per cent, while traffic on full-service carriers grew 7.1 per cent during the same period.

Southeast Asia and Northeast Asia have been the major contributors to passenger traffic growth at Changi Airport.

However, CAG said the sustainability of this growth may be impacted by weaker travel demand to and from Europe and the United States as a result of increasing economic uncertainty in these regions.

Changi Airport sees record passenger traffic in 2011
By S Ramesh | Posted: 20 January 2012 1218 hrs

SINGAPORE: Singapore's Changi Airport registered strong performance in December to set new records for passenger traffic and aircraft movements in 2011.

Celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2011, Changi Airport reported that its annual passenger traffic crossed the 45-million mark for first time last year.

There were 46.5 million passenger movements and 302,000 aircraft movements.

December 2011 was Changi Airport's busiest month ever, with 4.53 million passenger movements.

Airfreight movements recovered to 2008 levels with 1.87 million tonnes of cargo handled, up nearly 3 per cent from 2010.

In 2011, the low cost carriers (LCCs) carried close to 26 per cent more passengers while passenger movements on full service airlines grew 6 per cent.

As for flight movements, LCCs accounted for nearly 30 per cent of all flights at Changi.

One in four passengers passing through Changi currently travels on an LCC, compared with about one in five in 2010.

As at January 1, 2012, Changi Airport handles more than 6,300 scheduled flights each week, an increase of some 17 per cent from a year ago.

More than 100 airlines now connect Singapore to 210 cities in 60 countries globally.

Changi Airport Group said the outlook for 2012 remains hazy, with the aviation industry expected to face volatile conditions. Demand for travel may moderate as a result of more subdued consumer confidence.

Changi Airport Group said it will continue to work with its stakeholders to face these challenges and capture opportunities to grow together.

Its chief executive officer, Mr Lee Seow Hiang, described 2011 as an eventful year.

He said that despite continuing economic uncertainty and environmental factors, the airport continued to develop the air hub and delivered another set of strong operating results.

He attributed this to the resilient support of its airline partners and passengers from around the world, and the dedication of all who work at Changi.

Mr Lee said: "Besides focusing on Changi Airport's connectivity to the world, we remain committed to refreshing our in-airport service offerings so that our customers continue to enjoy the first class Changi experience they have come to expect.

"To that end, passengers can look forward to a brand new-looking Terminal 1 when upgrading works are completed later this year."

Budget Terminal to make way for new and improved terminal
AsiaOne
Wednesday, Feb 29, 2012

The Budget Terminal will be closed later this year to make way for a new and improved terminal to cater to future demand of a burgeoning budget airline industry.

Airlines operating out of the terminal will operate from the main terminals at Changi Airport.

A local news source said Tiger Airways will operate from Terminal 2, as will Berjaya Air and SEAir.

Changes have also been made at Terminal 2 to accommodate additional flights, including adjustments to aero-bridges.

Airline currently operating out of the single-storey Budget Terminal include Tiger Airways, Firefly, Berjaya Air, Cebu Pacific and Tiger Airways.

However, industry watchers told the news source that budget carriers may face higher costs if they start operating from main terminals.

Budget Terminal started operations in 2006 and was recently expanded to accommodate seven million passengers.

According to the news source, more people are using budget carriers in their travels. These flights account for 28.5 per cent of flights at Changi Airport.

It may take more than two years for the new terminal to be ready, experts told the local news source.

Budget Terminal to close Sept 25, new terminal named T4
Published on Mar 1, 2012
By Royston Sim

Changi Airport Group (CAG) will close the Budget Terminal on Sept 25, and will build in its place, a larger terminal that will be named Terminal 4 (T4).

In a media release today, CAG said the existing Budget Terminal will be demolished to build a larger passenger building that can cater to continued air traffic growth at Changi Airport.

The new T4 will have a capacity of 16 million passengers per annum, more than twice the present capacity of 7 million passengers per annum.

Unlike the present Budget Terminal, T4 will have a wide choice of retail, food and beverage offerings and passenger amenities to better serve travellers' needs, said CAG.

Love the different themes for the different terminals. Is Terminal 2 the most currently facelifted one or T4?

Terminal 1 is currently the latest to get its facelift but it will only be fully complete next year. Terminal 4 is a totally new terminal which will be completed in 2017

The open-air carpark between Changi Airport Terminal 1 and the control tower will be redeveloped into a multi-use complex.

It will be integrated with the existing Terminal 1 building.

What management model has the Singapore Airport??

It's militar, DGAC, autonomic agency, bussines public entity, public entity, a joint venture, institutional grant, private grant, concession contract or a private company??

If I may answer the question on behalf other members. Changi Airport used to be operated by CAAS (Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore). In, 2009 CAAS relinquished its control over Changi Airport to the Changi Airport Group (a new business entity of Temasek Holding) so CAAS could focus on its regulatory function.

You can read more about it here.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Changi_Airport_Group
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Temasek_Holdings

Correct me if i'm wrong.

Passenger traffic at Changi Airport up 11.2% in Feb
By Linette Lim | Posted: 21 March 2012 1404 hrs

SINGAPORE: Passenger traffic at Changi Airport increased 11.2 per cent year-on-year to 3.77 million in February 2012.

According to the Changi Airport Group (CAG), there was "strong travel demand across all regions" last month.

In particular, traffic between Singapore and the Middle East grew more than 20 per cent, while other regions -- the Americas, Europe, South Asia and Southeast Asia -- also increased by double digits.

In line with the growth in passenger traffic, aircraft landings and take-offs rose 13.1 per cent to 24,900 flights.

Cargo movements, which had declined 7.1 per cent in January due to the Lunar New Year holidays, rebounded in February.

Data from CAG showed that 143,900 tonnes of cargo was handled in February -- an increase of 12.4 per cent on-year.

CAG said that disregarding the impact of the Lunar New Year holidays, airfreight movements still grew 2.0 per cent year-on-year during the January-February period.

As at March, Changi Airport serves some 100 airlines operating more than 6,100 weekly flights connecting Singapore to over 220 cities in 60 countries and territories.
