@Koresh hmmm that seems pretty full, but not really full (with all seats taken)

@Vrooms that's a really modern and sleek MRT station for Changi Airport. Gotta love the symmetry of escalators and the tall ceilings!

Now that truly wants me to visit Singapore soon... I really love that ceiling at T3! Hopefully, other airports can find creative ways to make their terminals more attractive to even more passengers.

I love Changi! Been through it 5 times and can't wait to return

The MRT station didn't look as spectacular in real life as it does in that picture though.

Better land at T3, mate! The airport's marvelous, though, overall. I mean, I haven't been to SIN yet, but observing the interiors of the terminal, it makes me want to go to Singapore really soon.

I've been through T1, T2 and T3, all very good terminals, clean, friendly staff, LOTS of space, lots to do, free fast wifi, extremely fast immigration- what's there to hate? Last time I went through, there was a row of Immigration officials waiting for travellers with no queue at all, unlike certain other airports *cough* HEATHROW *cough*.
The only thing that bugs me is having security at the gate, bit of a pain when transferring flights.

Some photos of Changi, September 2012
I can't remember which Terminals these were all from, but I think most were T1

@Levathian you're lucky you rode QF's A380! The largest plane I've ridden is the B747... LH and SQ now operate A380s to SFO, thus I wanna fly on one soon.

I was on QF9 which went from SIN-LHR, originally from Melbourne. To be honest it wasn't anything too special, seats were a little nicer. I took QF51 to SIN on a 747, it hadn't been refurbished yet

Jetstar to add six weekly services between Singapore, Perth from April 1

By Maryam Mokhtar

Low-cost carrier Jetstar will add six weekly services between Singapore and Perth from April 1.

The new services will bring the total number of flights a week offered by Jetstar between the two cities to 13.

Jetstar Asia chief executive Bara Pasupathi said in a statement on Monday that the airline's new schedule would allow for more Singaporean travellers to visit Perth.

Singaporeans make up the third biggest group of visitors to the Western Australian capital. Last year, Jetstar Asia carried more than 100,000 passengers between Singapore and Perth.

New mega-passenger terminal could be built in Changi East
By Hetty Musfirah | Posted: 13 March 2013 1438 hrs

SINGAPORE: A new mega-passenger terminal could be built at a site in Changi East to serve Singapore's Changi Airport.

The site lies between the current second and third runway.

Revealing this in Parliament on Wednesday, Minister of State for Transport Josephine Teo said there is sufficient land to do so after studies were conducted.

She said the Changi 2036 Steering Committee, which is tasked to develop a holistic long-term plan for the expansion of Changi Airport, is working on a Concept Plan for the site.

The area can also site an airfreight centre, an air logistics centre and maintenance, repair and overhaul hubs.

Mrs Teo said with the new facilities, new roads and public transport links will also be needed to serve the airport. Existing roads may also have to be diverted.

She said Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) and the Land Transport Authority (LTA) will conduct further studies and finalise the Concept Plan by end of this year.

The Committee has also decided that Changi's third runway, currently used by the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF), should be readied for civilian co-use as early as possible. It estimated this to be before the end of this decade.

The detailed timelines for the works and the implementation of the third runway system will be ready in the second half of the year.

Mrs Teo said the compounded annual growth of passenger traffic at Changi is expected to be around five percent till the end of this decade and moderate to three to four percent in the next decade.

By implementing runway optimisation and other measures, she said the two runways are expected to sufficient to cater to Changi Airport's growth until around the end of this decade.

Mrs Teo said there is also the need for airport operations to become more efficient and the new Terminal 4 which will be completed in 2017 offers an opportunity to explore ways to do more with less before the innovations can be adopted on a larger scale at the new terminals at Changi East.

Mrs Teo said Changi Airport Group (CAG) is exploring having self-service kiosks and automated check-in and immigration clearance facilities in the new Terminal 4 as such practices will allow for faster and more efficient check-in and immigration clearance while reducing the manpower required.

There will also be innovations that will make it easier for airport staff to do their work at Terminal 4.

For example, mechanical baggage lifters will be installed to assist baggage workers in lifting check-in bags, so that they no longer need to move the bags manually.

An Airport Productivity Steering Committee, led by CAAS and comprising stakeholders such as CAG, airlines, airport service providers and other government agencies, has been established to drive the efforts in a more holistic manner.
