Cathay Pacific to open new lounge at Singapore's Changi T4 terminal

Cathay Pacific will open a first class and business class lounge at Singapore's Changi Airport when the airline moves its flights to the new Terminal 4 in 2017.
This will be the first Cathay Pacific lounge at Changi, as the airline's current SkyView lounge at Terminal 1 is operated by an independent company and can't hold a candle to any of Cathay's own efforts.
That's one reason why many savvy CX travellers make tracks for the superior Qantas Singapore Lounge, which they can access based on Qantas and Cathay pacific's mutual membership to the Oneworld alliance
However, that all changes in 2017 when all of Cathay Pacific's Singapore flights shift to T4.
A spokesperson for the airline confirmed to Australian Business Traveller that T4 will see "a brand new Cathay Pacific-branded and operated lounge."
The new Cathay Pacific Singapore lounge will be located on the upstairs mezzanine level of the new terminal, with views into the apron and runway. At some 800 square metres it will be around half the size of Cathay's The Wing First lounge at Hong Kong.
Cathay Pacific is the first airline to adopt T4 as its new home in Singapore, and that home will boasts the hallmarks which have made Changi one of the world’s favourite airports – plenty of room, plenty of greenery, and plenty of shops.
Many of the shops will be built behind the colourful facades of old Peranakan shop-houses.
Each of T4’s 21 gates will feature full-height glass and indoor greenery.
And with as many as 16 million passengers a year passing through T4, the terminal is also being geared to what the Changi Airport Group calls its ‘fast and seamless travel’ (FAST) initiative.
That means self-service kiosks for check-in and bag drop at the T4 arrivals hall, along with automated immigration clearance and even automated boarding at the departure gates.
But getting to and from T4 will be a bit more low-tech, relying on a shuttle bus instead of the elevated ‘SkyTrain’ light rail which links the current three terminals.
While a SkyTrain was considered, “because of the distance and also in between there are some existing infrastructure and services, it will become quite an engineering challenge, as well as the high cost to either dig underground or alleviate above ground,” explains Poh Li San, vice president of airport operations at Changi Airport Group.
“We weighed the options between a skytrain and shuttle bus and concluded that the shuttle bus is a much better, effective means of transport to connect Terminal 4 and other terminals.”

What really impress me about Changi airport management is the way they transform 1980s building into a modern airport terminal without demolishing it. Such as Changi T1.

The Changi Airport Group (CAG) has started running a pilot programme of self-service initiatives at Changi Airport in Singapore. CAG has teamed up with Jetstar Asia for the programme, which is expected to test the speed and flexibility of self-service.

Indeed. from it's outside its just nothing compare to new terminal building like Hongkong, Beijing, Incheon, etc but Changi always do an update really well.

Nice video! But you mean SIN-SYD no?

Also finally it is nice to see SQ A380s docking at T2 again.
