The T5 design does indeed look like it was inspired by HKG and DOH, as mentioned by netsurfe and Rokto14. The rectangular part of the terminal reminds me of BKK. I guess there would be modifications to this design, it looks more like a proposed concept than a finalised design. It's incredible how massive T5 is, compared to T1,2,3,4 combined. It will definitely be another world class terminal, when completed.

You don't foresee the increasing demand for air travel which is triggered by increase number of people in the world itself.

Hmm i beg to differ

I agree theres increasing demand of air travellers as well as growing number of transit passengers

However the u/c T4 will be enough to handle passenger for the next 10 years.

Also airports like KL, BKK and JKT are vying for the same competitors. In fact increasing competition from region that makes business difficult for changi in future

T4 seems to be quite a small terminal. It's primary use case is for narrow body jets. Hence I highly doubt it'll be good enough to handle the demand for the next 10 years.

That's for sure a huge expansion of SIN. I hope the can generate an amount of traffic to support that infrastructure, as the competition is heating up, and fast.

I would imagine that Terminal 5 would be built in phases. It is massive, almost as big as all three existing terminals. So they can build the main terminal building, followed by satellite terminals and skytrain infrastructure as and when the need arises.

My two cents worth

Singapore's Changi Airport has geared up to start managing Ahmedabad and Jaipur airports in India.Passenger traffic at Ahmedabad and Jaipur airports is anticipated to increase to 6.77 million and 3.75 million passengers respectively by 2023-24.

Having travelled to a few of the major airports, Changi's really is above and beyond
Its modern yet there is human scale and " warmth" and there is really so much to do

other airports may have more modern interiors but the feel is just not there.
Im referring to airports as below:

Shanghai Pudong
Tokyo Haneda
Hongkong
Suvarnabhumi
Sydney
Melbourne
Brisbane
Bali

Hongkong feels to sterile, Shanghai Pudong looked good in photos but felt ordinary compared to Changi once you are there
