Very interesting.

But still there is no way that the innocent North Korean citizens will realize the country is one of the poorest ones in the world.
It looks like South Korea about 30~40 years ago...

Only if Seoul had a large plaza and still had romanesque architectures like that it would've been a much more historical city. However, just imagine the two Koreas uniting someday...do you think it'll have two capitals? One for administrative and historical and one for economical, cultural, and commercial? If two Koreas unite, I'm sure we'll surpass any other country's tourism industry for sure

What makes you think that? I fail to see the connection.

No worries SR.. it was obviously stated in the 'spirit of fun' and wasn't meant to be taken literally.

Looks so peaceful, just like many countries in the 50's or 60's. Would be a nice place to live without that crazy government.

The connection is that they both are Koreans(朝鮮民族=韓民族).
The difficulty is that North Korea(GDP per capita in 2007 : $1,114) became super poor country since the communist occupation began so that it is now more close to China($2,483) than Korea($20,015).

Current South Korean government offered a plan to bring the North Korean GDP per capita up to $3000 if they opens doors to the South and the world. However, it seems that they'd rather keep the country closed than doing so because all they actually want is to make sure the Kim Jung Ill's throne is safe from hands of justices and help, which will eventually awaken North Korean people. AND, they get along with China which actually never care about North Korean people suffering from hunger or their economy(as the Kim Jung Ill does) but to keep it (N.Korea "province") a stupid waste land as a buffer zone between China and S.Korea, Japan. (and the U.S. and U.N.)

I believe what Sister Ray meant was about the tourism part.

lol,, shopping in Seoul and going north to Pyongyang to wandering around ruins of Kim's regime will give tourists stunning and unque impressions which not given from any other countries in universe, and it's apparently a big time rather than just Seoul and DMZ sightseeing.. In this way, I mean, synergy effect will present an unexpected motive to tour into United Koreas.. then,, tourism in korea can be a major attraction enough,, even if not that "surpassing any other countries" literally.. Let's open to every possiblity.

The slogan is quite conspicuous, but what I find even more conspicuous is the bicycles in the middle of the road.

Wow really interesting photos. North Korea looks a lot like China, more so than I thought, from the architecture style, the countryside, bikes on the streets, even the pavement on the ground, I swear in one of those photos the tiles on the ground are exactly the same as the ones in the little town where I'm from.

Be really interesting once the place comes out of its self-imposed isolation, its almost like discovering a new country of 23 million inhabitants, imagine all the opportunities (and problems :S). Hope for the this era of isolation to end soon so its people may come in contact with the outside world without persecution.
