Love the Scarface-esque neighborhood. "Hey why don't you get a job or something...be a nurse, work with blind kids, lepers..."

Looking great. Hate how it was made, but definetly going to catch a game, even though I dont get baseball at all.
Is it still the case that they have no salary caps in MLB? It's like european soccer, you can sign as expensive players as you like? Btw; nice with the skyscraper view, to bad the designers only cared for the Biscayne Bay side of the scraper. :/

Our new Miami Marlins ballpark does have a very cool modern look...it looks a little like an Alien spaceship that has landed in Little Havanna. I agree I like it much better than the trendy "retro style" ballparks that have become so prevalent.

I agree with the others that compared it to Skydome. Very similar, just more modern. I'm not a fan.

Correct. No salary cap. There's a revenue sharing program in place where 31% of each team's local revenues go into a pot and are split evenly back to all teams (#% as of the previous collective bargaining agreement). Also the MLB's national earnings are split up based upon a team's revenue, more $ to the lowest earning teams.
How this relates to THIS stadium? In 2007 the Marlins got $60 million in revenue sharing, but only had a payroll of $45.5 million. The public felt like they were just pocketing the extra $ and putting out a bad product, blaming the fan support for the reason they weren't doing well, and trying to move cities without a new stadium. Fleecing the taxpayers while pocketing millions of dollars. In 2008, they only had a $21 million payroll!!! There's also a luxury tax, but it is set SOOOO high and at a low % that it isn't much of an issue. This 2008 article breaks down the "taxes" pretty well, and provides accurate commentary, IMO. http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-505125_1...aring-formula/ The new CBA makes the 15 teams in the largest markets (New York(x2), Los Angeles(x2), Chicago(x2), Atlanta, Boston, Houston, Oakland, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Texas, Toronto and Washington) slowly ineligible to receive funds. Stepping down their % from 2013-2016. Oakland has a special provision which lets them keep the $ until their stadium situation is worked out. Reverse angle skyline

The bay is like a stage and the water is a nice foreground. Brickell isn't that great for the reverse angle either. Looks good at night. Sorry bout my image being smaller hosted at cafepress.

I am curious what music they are going to play when this thing goes off. It doesn't seem like it would go well with the fog horn and sirens that are typical at a hockey game. No baseball stadium I have ever been to has anything like this, so I am clueless. Maybe some Latin music, since they seem to be marketing hard towards that demographic now? |

Maybe some Jimmy Buffet. That's really what it the artist was inspired by, kitschy Florida and his trips to Daytona Beach in the 1950's.
