About the natural air-cooling technology... Apparently France will have one of the first 35K+ stadiums in the world that uses that kind of stuff (by 2013):

This is getting a bit ridiculous. The apparent disdain for Qatar by a few here isn't even trying to be veiled. Oh, looking at the locations, I understand now. Insecure aussies, fair enough.

Of all the things you try and pin us for-crowd size
The reason why we've had massive stadiums for more than 100 years is because we love our sport
Olympics 2000-record overall attendance
Commonwealth Games 2006-record overall attendance
Rugby World Cup 2003-record overall attendance
ATP Australian Open-year on year record overall attendance
WCQ-The highest crowd average of all AFC nations in Round 3,almost equal highest in the final round(we qualified early, while the other group went to the wire)
UCI World Championships a few weeks ago-157,000 on the final day alone
AFL finals-400,000 to 4 matches last month
Melbourne Cup in a few weeks-as always will be a record-120,000.Cup Carnival will average 100,000

The very last thing you can say is that we won't turn up

I don't think anyone would begrudge Qatar a World Cup hosting if

1-It complied to the hosting criteria
2-It wasn't a single city bid
3-There wasn't as many as 58 days of 40 degree weather in June/July as there was this year(average 46.3)
4-If it was logistically possible
5-It didn't devalue the FIFA World Cup
6-The Worlds(especially Europe) football community weren't scared of having it there
7-It was won on its merits rather than the perception that money dictates everything
8-There was a fan culture,especially travelling fans
9-Some tourist icons,UNESCO sites
10-The extreme Nationalising program that exists at Aspire
11-The human trafficking orders placed on Qatar by the US State Dept
12-Alcohol
13-A higher ranking than 104
14-9 shonky deals with other Nations/ExCo
15-Support for Irans nuclear program
16-Financial support of Hamas
17-Failure to even recognise potential qualifiers
18-Qatars pathetic crowds despite free entry
19-Worlds worst Carbon polluters per head of population
20-Never qualified for a WC

Thats off the top of my head
Next 20 to come later..............

What exactly is that supposed to mean?

Are you really going to even question Australia's love for sport or support at major events? Really?

Qatar will play Madrid's (Olympic) roll in FIFA voting. Have a limited chance of actually winning but pull enough votes to ensure early exists to more likely host nations (such as Australia or the USA).

Qatar has a bid that they are trying to dampen the weaknesses of on a daily basis. It has many gaps unfortunately.

Some important facts:

- The pure mention of a stronger bid with the UAE as co-hosts brings protests from Qatari fans on here. Its a decent suggestion to try and meet the usual requirements. That has even brought comments that it was a racist thing to say, which just goes to show that there is a general disregard to listen to the statements being made.
- Continued posting by Qatari posters, on here of any critical media piece about rival bids, whithout knowing any details of why it was written or who it was that composed the piece. Thats what free media does.
- If Qatar do not win it will not be a racism thing, it will be because the bid is not good enough. Pure and simple.
- Many comments that are considered attacks on Qatar are valid, yet some definately arent. Many are made solely based on the frustration of reactions for valid ones which makes people retaliate.

I would love to see an Arab WC sometime, as I am sure they will do a good job, but a bid must meet the criiteria to be considered. If this was the IOC process, Qatar would likely be out of the shortlist by now, sorry to say.

For the 946th time. Ignore the other factors which are a challenge for Qatar e.g. heat etc.

"Opposition" to the bid has nothing to do with Qatar or the Arab world or Doha.

A World Cup in one city is not going to work in Qatar, or anywhere else.
