I was going to ignore it, but you do realise that Kangaroos are considered pests here, qatarson? They wreck farmers crops, and it isn't illegal to kill them - in fact, there's annual culling of Kangaroos. So despite the fact they may be cute and interesting from an outsiders perspective, they're pests. Just the same as we have to kill Camels, as they are pests too. Anyway, this is way off topic. I want to see more pictures of stadiums - please post some...

Yes our bid book has a cover made of Kangaroo skin.

Is it a horrible signal from Australia that we kill our national animal out of necessity? Yes we conserve the species, but for those that are considered as pests, it is not uncommon to cull them in order to preserve crops and such.

We're proposing a World Cup that is financially responsible and has lasting legacy for not only Football but the other codes as well. We deserve it, we've proven ourselves on the world stage, what has the Qatari national team done?

yes but thats not the point right now, the point is that Qatar is aiming to bring the World cup for the Arab/Muslim world for the first time ever. The bid book demonstrates our capacity to host a completely unique FIFA World Cup; one that will enable fans to see more than one match in a day as no stadium will be more than an hour apart by public transportation. and it will be a Family-Oriented event, so unwanted scenes could be avoided. Heat will not be a problem.

The Qatari bid is underpinned by strong local support from the government and ties in with the official ‘National Vision for 2030.’ Transportation systems in Qatar will be revolutionised with a new Doha International Airport and the new Qatar Metro Network System linking all twelve stadiums.

Fans will also be able to stay in the same accommodation throughout the tournament, saving them time and money. And by 2022, Qatar will have approximately 110,000 hotel rooms and serviced apartments, 90,000 of which have been guaranteed for FIFA’s use during the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Nobody is attacking your country. If you don't have the basic logic to acknowledge that one city of 1.2 million people can't host 6-8 world venues, then I'm afraid it would be best to move on.

Accusations of racism are taken seriously. Be careful.

Please review forum guidelines as well. Thanks.

Indeed, this thread's getting a bit too heated.

Qatar is doing an excellent job with this bid as far as I can see. Stunning looking stadiums, taking into account the heat by jetting in experts in stadium cooling from the US, donating seats to developing world countires after the world cup with clever demountable stadium plans etc. They're going about it in the right way.

BUT (and it's a massive but) the natural limitations the bid team are working within are, if you're honest, almost certainly too great to overcome. The population of the country is too small, the area of the country is far too small, you can't really expect FIFA to choose a bid plan which includes half a dozen stadiums in one city and even with demountable stadiums there is, as far as I can see, still a big question mark over what will happen to the stadiums post-2022.

Asking for a world cup in Qatar is a bit like showing Michelangelo your kitchen ceiling, giving him a pot of paint and saying "you know that Sistine Chapel...something like that please".
