I like the Frankfurt airport. And its managers are building our new terminal and modernize our airport Pulkovo.

The Airport is huge and security strict. Personally, I would allow more than two hours, just in case.

Thanks

Yes, I know. Problem at Frankfurt Airport is that (depending on which runway you will arrive) it might take forever for the plane to taxi to the gate. (In some occasions busses will transport you to the terminal). Sometimes lines are long and immigration is almost always understaffed. Frankfurt Airport is also known for its long walks and confusing layout (esp. T1). However, it is still a nice hangout with plenty of shops and restaurants. The new A Plus terminal addition is especially nice and there is even more shops, restaurants and hotels at the adjacent long distance train station. The airport is a city of its own - 10 times bigger than Monaco.

Flew to Frankfurt many times and never has a problem finding my way. Immigration lines, maybe few people all the time when I arrived in the morning so that was about million times better than anywhere here in USA. But yes, sometimes there is long walks to you gate.

Use new terminal back in January and loved it.

I don't know if it makes difference, but it will be a Schengen flight. I hope to get a glimpse of the city in about 2 and a half hours, as I never had the opportunity to have a long (5:40h) layover in FRA.

Don't worry, the city center is very close to the airport. It is just a short train ride.

From 6pm to 7pm there are 8 flughafen bound trains from central station, I'll try to be there 2 hours in advance (8:40pm) just in case (I always take bigger time spans if I don't know the city and when I don't know if there are any strikes).

you don't need to check-in again, do you? if not, it'll not take more than 45min from the airport train station to your gate (if you fly from terminal 1 however).

Same with me. I lived in Franfurt until 1 month ago and used the airport very frequently. Showing up 45 minutes prior to departure for European and 75 minutes prior to departure for Intercontinental flights (except for flights to the US) is perfectly fine as long as you have already checked in online.
