I had no clue Emirates didn't operate the A380 in Frankfurt until now.

Flew through here recently.

The old terminals really need to get rebuilt. Cramped, dark and really, really bad air (dry, varm and simply unpleasant).

Problem with FRA / European airports are the wide open smoking area but that was back in 2004... Hopefully dedicated & closed smoking areas have been built...

Some of it is definitely in poor condition, but overall Frankfurt is one of my favorite airports. It might be grey and typically German, I still think it works efficiently and is well organized. Now, if you want to compare to AMS or CDG, okay, they have some catching up to do, but overall, I like its quirkyness. Too many airports are becoming generic nowherevilles, designed by the same group of architects: Norman Foster, SOM, HOK et al. A rather boring prospect for renewal.

Although none matches my favourite airport; Incheon.
The pinnacle of beauty and efficiency.
People should emulate them.

Nope, FRA is served thrice daily. That's one of the reasons FRA wasn't served by EK A380 until recently. Because with opening of the new runway and the possibility to get new slots, EK decided to increase capacity by increasing frequency rather than deploying its biggest plane (as opposed to say Munich, where EK started A380 service some time ago but frequency remained with 2 daily flights).

More than 40 routes had more than 200000 departing passengers, most of them being long haul routes such as Chicago, JFK, Washington, Toronto, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Shanghai, etc.
