I've never seen an Air India B-787 there before, maybe next time I go there whenever that will be. What did they use before the Boeing 787 for Frankfurt?

If I recall correctly, it would be a B747-400 and B777 (including the -200 and -300ER).

Considering that there is no connectivity at Frankfurt for LAN, I always thought it was odd that they fly to Frankfurt, as opposed to say London-Heathrow which is a OneWorld hub.

I could be wrong but I believe the routing is SCL-MAD-FRA (MAD being OW hub)

Yeah the LAN Airline route to Frankfurt stops in Madrid first. That being said I am still wondering what the yields are on the FRA-MAD segment since I can't imagine that there is a lot of traffic between Germany and Chile to necessitate having LAN fly all the way to Frankfurt.

There's quite some O/D traffic between Germany and Chile. Maybe not enough to warrant a nonstop flight without too much feed, but for the one-stop via Madrid its definitely enough. And it's not true that there's no connectivity in FRA for OneWorld airlines, nearly all alliance airlines fly to FRA, so you have connections to Helsinki, London-Heathrow, London-City, Berlin, etc on OneWorld carriers AND the fact that many airlines are interlining with LH at FRA.
Another big driver for LAN's route is cargo.

Investigators from the European Commission (EC) posing as passengers have identified major loopholes in security at Germany's Frankfurt Airport by successfully smuggling banned items past security checks. The EC investigators' findings were published on Sunday in the German newspaper Bild am Sonntag.

They should investigate AUH and DXB! Security at AUH is kind of a joke. Most of the time the security staff weren't even paying attention!

I travelled via FRA in 2004 & managed to carry onto my flight a gift which happened to have knives. This was carried on as luggage and wasn't picked up until we boarded our flight in BKK currently known as DMK.

Wow, that's crazy. Security is more strict (and rude! ) now.
