Same situation here mate. I've been trying to fish for any info but so far, no such luck. All I've heard from them is that, what they have seen so far, is pretty spectacular!

Has to be Adele who sings the national anthem, no?

There's NO rule that says that she has to do it. In some Olympics, it has just been instrumental. I don't think her voice would add anything new to "Rule Birtannia" or "God Save the Queen."

I'm almost sure Adele will be involved in some way, given the auditions

Her voice can handle "The Olympic Hymn" since that is all high notes. Now, if she can only learn a few lines in Greek.

Looks like a lot of tallish buildings in the east end have suddenly started fitting rooftop colour changing LED lighting... might not be olympics related but the timing is a bit suspicious. The thee crossways towers near Bow Church have new LED lit crowns, Global Switch house near East India Dock has new Top to bottom colour changing LED stripes and the Barrat Elektron next door has been testing its lighting recently, The 9 towers of the Lansbury estate near Langdon Park DLR are having LED lit crowns installed, the HSBC tower was testing out it's full crown lighting on saturday...

looks like something is afoot

Possibly the best opening 10 minutes of any opening ceremony! Say what you will about the Atlanta games, this sequence has stayed in my memory ever since I first watched it, I loved it then, I love it now.

LED's on top of buildings.

Tower Bridge has an LED project planned no? Quite curious to know more about this. Note the 2012 logo in this image ;-)

i really really hope they use landmarks and LED's/lighting in some way during the ceremonies. i remember there being some kind of countdown dot matrix attached to the crown of Pan Peninsula when they were testing the lighting. and there was some talk of there being something similar at the top of Tower 42 a while back...

I quite agree with you. And you were criticizing me for linking the book, SECRETS OF THE OLYMPIC CEREMONIES. I was a member of the Blue Tribe in this sequence and I wrote about my experiences with a few other ceremonies as well. I share many other secrets in www.secretolympiceremony.com

The Kindle/Nook - eBook version should come out around late April 2012.

I hope you are right. That would look so cool. Imagine a light show in the stadium that progressing to some laser firing out over the park from the top of The Orbit. Culminating in lots of tall building across East London flashing multi-colored LED lights all over London. I also like the bell ringing concept. It would be great if they could combine the 2 and really make that effect work. Big project though.

The LED light strips have already been fitted on tower bridge, they've been turned on bright white a few times recently, they only seem to be solid horizontal bands of light though, nothing too ostentatious I can't tell if they colour change at all. The Elektron development at East India Dock only has a couple of narrow LED strips on which seem to colour change and the Global Switch House lights were finished yesterday and turned on for the first time last night, they seem to be a steady green colour though, no idea if they can colour change or not... iPhone 4 doesn't pick out the lights very well in low light sadly...

I'm not really able to get close enough to the crossways estate to take a night picture, if someone else could do the honours? Very brightly lit crowns which colour change rapidly though the whole spectrum.

Skip over if you want but has a little section at the end about what bands should close the Olympics.
