Five people killed. I think last night they held funeral service at Gambir railway station in Jakarta.

The bodies of drivers were brought to their respective hometowns by trains.

One at a time, please!

I'm doubtful is electrification will be fully completed, due to weak and unreliable electrical supply.

Why do the trains have steel grates on their windscreens?

Because we still have those retarded piece of sh*t who like to throw stuff towards the train whenever it passes. The steel grates is the only protection for the driver in case some of those nutcases decided to aim a rock on him...

I would say it is due to stinginess and narrow mindedness of Indonesian state railway in dealing with train stoning issue. Instead of installing impact proof glasses, they would prefer to create feeling of fear among general public by installing wire mesh, to give impression as if Indonesian railway is "completely unsafe" or "under serious threat of stoning".

They should have installed these things:

Based on this news (in Indonesian)
The capacity of the depot is 224 units of EMU
There are 16 tracks. but 2 tracks are reserved for the train movement, so 14 tracks are available as a "parking lot" for the train

Another pics of the depot

That's quite an impressive selection of various types of rolling stock. Are there plans to expand commuter rail services / develop home grown train construction?

Locally made trains does exist in Indonesia. In fact Indonesian train builder industry has been around since 1981. They manufacture coaches, hoppers, flatcars, EMU, and even locomotive!
