Couple of photos from Slovak railways which may be interesting for you.

Cosmopolitan. Hungarian locomotive on Slovak train to Vienna:

One would think this photo was taken in Czech Republic, but it's station Devínska Nová Ves in Bratislava:

Is this Austria? No, again Devínska Nová Ves:

Timon's favourite EC Košičan, now with two locos (one was broken down):

It's fine and interesting that you have so many foreign trains there; in Poland we have almost only our PKP...

In Slovakia there is less foreign trains than you might think according to those photos. Majority of trains in Slovakia is obviously Slovak. But, on international lines you may find trains with foreign locomotives or carriages.

I hope you would like this train with Polish coaches in Slovakia (sadly they are quite rare here), it's Ex 382/383 Jozef Bem (Budapest Keleti pu. - Košice - Plaveč - Muszyna - Kraków - Warszawa Wschodnia), in Poland and Hungary it was called EC Jozef Bem, unfortunately it's not in operation anymore:

When the railway between Košice and and Plaveč was closed due to maintenance, this train was redirected via Kysak - Spišská Nová Ves -
Poprad-Tatry - Plaveč which offered very rare view - Polish coaches under Slovak Tatras:

This is under castle Stará Ľubovňa:

It's nice to see how railway transport looked like decades ago when steam locos were still in regular use. In summer there are several events where you can see old machines like this one in region Horehronie:

Not so old train:

This is the old one:

Just railway and countryside:

Old steam and diesel locos:

Slovak Railways are going to purchase new and reconstructed rolling stock for € 380 million. This is list of what we will be able to see in service soon.

Locomotives

ZSSK bought 2 three system electric locos Škoda 109E (probably class 380). Their maximal speed will be 160 km/h:

ZSSK 380 in corporate colours:

15 electric locos (3 kV DC) class 162 and 163 will be reconstructed to double system (3 kV DC and 25 kV 50 Hz AC) vehicles equipped with ETCS and capable for speed 160 km/h. It's necessary since Slovakia is going to introduce speed 160 km/h on its main corridor and lines electrified with 3kV DC system will be rebuilt into 25 kV 50 Hz AC.

Locos class 162 and 163:

10 locos class 263 will be modified to allow their operation with push-pull sets.

ZSSK 263:

Electric and diesel units, push-pull sets

ZSSK signed contract with Czech company Škoda Transportation which will deliver 10 suburban double system and double deck units class 671 with maximal speed 160 km/h. They will be in operation on lines around Košice and Žilina.

Visualisation:

The same manufacturer will deliver also 10 double deck push-pull sets. Their design will be based on units class 671. They will be used with modified locos class 263 and new locos class 380 both mentioned above on lines around Bratislava (Bratislava - Kúty/Nové Zámky/Leopoldov).

Visualisation where you can see control trailer 971 and locomotive 263 in behind:

Slovak manufacturer ŽOS Vrútky will built 12 low floor three segment diesel units class 860. Their capacity will be 177 passengers and maximal speed will be 140 km/h. They will be used on lines Prievidza - Nitra - Nové Zámky, Leopolodov - Nitra - Nové Zámky, Humenné - Prešov and Humenné - Košice.

ŽOS Zvolen is going to built 12 diesel units class 813-913. They are actually reconstructed units class 810 and coaches 011. Together there will be already 41 such reconstructed units on our railways.

813-913:

Coaches

ŽOS Trnava will reconstruct 70 coaches Bdt to Bdtee. All will be air-conditioned.

Present Bdt:

Prototype of Bdteer (basically the same as Bdtee):

The same company will reconstruct also 30 BDshmee(r) coaches to Bdghmeer which will be also air conditioned.

Present BDshmee:

ŽOS Vrútky will deliver 15 new Bmpeer coaches for elite trains. Their maximal speed will be 160 km/h, but it will be possible to upgrade them on 200 km/h. Contract contains also option to purchase 10 more such coaches.

Bmpeer coaches which are already in use:

ŽOS Vrútky will built also 5 new first class coaches for elite trains Ampeer with maximal speed 200 km/h.

Flagship of Slovak railways - Ampeer:

Nice photos. Just a little correction ŽSR maintains railways, cargo trains are operated by ZSSK Cargo and passenger trains by ZSSK.

First one is close to Poprad and second one is in Spišská Nová Ves. It's the highest church tower in Slovakia (87 m). The mountains in the background are High Tatras.

Cool. It's a pity we have to wait until summer to see it in regular operation. But, photos from testing circuit may appear much sooner.
