His next question: "Interesting, so how do liberal Saudis have fun, and where do conservatives cry? I would think that many of Saudi people especially young men may want to adopt some of the evangelical beliefs about the chosen people instead of the old values, and have fun, no? Do those Saudis inside compounds have the right to feel ashamed for what the Germans have done to the 600, I mean 6 million or 6 billion in the future? I like to collect and categorize such data and report them just for fun, I swear it's not my job, and would really like your cooporation!"![]() Now those who answer say this to themselves: "Yeah, we are answering your questions as if we didn't see the info and news you post from time to time. Does he think that we don't know what he's doing. He is asking and twisting the discussion as if he is a teacher in a kindergarden. Isn't TV and newspapers enough? Don't they have a more professional guy to spy on us. this is really frustrating!"

Is it true that a Saudi woman is not allowed to marry from outside of her country even if the boy is muslim?

![]() It is, well, sort of. A Saudi woman can marry a non-Saudi but she won't be able to pass Saudi citizenship onto her offspring.

Processing of Iqama in Riyadh
Hello Everyone,
This might be of the blue. I mean I know this is not the appropriate forum but I am desperate. Just want to ask if there's anyone tried going to Jawazat Riyadh to process iqama for his dependents? If does what are the procedures and requirements. I just arrived from vacation and I brought my family with me. And now I have a problem with my wife and daughters iqama cz according to Jawazat in Jeddah I should be there personally to process it (according to our liaison officer). I was thinking of processing it in Riyadh since it is nearer here in Al Khobar which I am currently based. You might wonder why not processed it here, well, my company has no registration here in Eastern province. Only in Jeddah and in Riyadh have its registrations. Tnx in advance. Regards John |

Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh
I wanted to ask how the sentiments among normal Saudis are when it comes to the Al-Saud, the regime and it's relationship to the West/USA. What do regular Saudis think about it? When I am in Saudi Arabia 2 times a year to visit my father's family must of my family members have mixed opinions but generall are satisfied although they can imagine better times also. I do in no way favour total liberalization of Saudi Arabia or giving passports to non-Saudis but to tell the truth I do not like that "our" government is a puppet of the West. It makes many of the laws appear hypocritical when American culture/Americans and their government is adored officially by the regime at least while it clearly conflicts with the regular Suadi - that is at least my opinion. I am not saying that everything American is bad but we all know their involvment in the Arab world (divide and conquer) and the recent attack on Iraq (which Saudi Arabia unfortunately helped with). How do you see Saudi Arabia in 10 years time? Will much have changed? I know that it is a sensitive issue and that it will divide people and that there is of course different opinions (I know that from my father's family) but I would nevertheless ask the locals living in Saudi here. ![]() I hope we can have a civil and interesting discussion. I thought your father was born in Baghdad?
To answer your question, I don't mind the House of Saud and I'm actually in favor of them keeping the country intact but I do think they should transfer the majority of their powers to the people. That is to say, I support a constitutional monarchy. (with a proper rights-granting rights-preserving constitution) As for the country being a Western "puppet", SA made it clear which side it wants to align itself to since the 1940's and I fully support that stance and support further modernization/westernization.

Yes, I meant my grandfather who was born in Saudi Arabia (Hejez). My father was born in Baghdad but has Saudi citizenship.
I support modernization as well but that could also happen without the Al-Saud. But I am fine with them being in power as long as the people get more of it and the foreign policy becomes less independent of USA and the West in general. The last part does of course not mean that we should cut all ties - just make us less dependent. That goes to all the Arab world. Last edited by Al-Hashimi; October 29th, 2012 at 05:53 PM. |
