... the only REAL arab world city! Beside Al-Qahira Dubai seems like a real toytown.

Great street shots. Architecturally there is evidence of modern, Islamic, European, and a unique kitschy modern Egyptian style as seen from these photos. I am astounded by the mix. The topographical layout reminds me of Melbourne, Australia but the city's patina reminds me of Havana, Cuba.

Great city. The city looks to be made fully of stone.

Thanks @all for your comments. TowerKid: The food was great!
Cairo is an impressing Megalopolis, indeed. On the other hand there are many indescribably ugly buildings as well, fortunately outside the Downtown area. The air pollution is scary.

Like the density, interesting architecture, but pity about the pollution.

If the buildings were more well maintain and the streets a lot more cleaner, and I had to guess, I will think it was somewhere in Europe.

I am very, very impressed. I passed through 2 years ago and got a whistlestop tour of the Coptic Christian city and the pyramids, I so wish I had more time to have gone around - to the colonial city and the Old Islamic City, which looks like something from 1001 Nights.

At night, well into the morning the streets were still buzzing, with promenading families - its a truly 24 hr place. It also happens to have one of the worlds lowest crime rates - the poorest parts of the city also happen to be the safest urban areas in the world - Islamic Cairo for example. The touts though are terrible, and whatever you do don't take a ride on a camel, or a 'free' photo of one.
