What is your favourite shopping mall?

My favourite shopping Mall, has to be the Monroeville Mall, in Pittsburgh. First time I saw this mall was in the orignal dawn of the dead film, years and years ago. It got me interested in wanting to design, build, develop and manage a shopping mall.. not too sure if there is a job title for this type of thing.. If not designing them, then I wouldnt mind owning a shopping mall to manage or to own..

whats your fav shopping mall?

Megabox, Hong Kong

All pics taken by me.

Quote:
Megabox pleasantly surprised me. It's my favourite visited mall in HK now, even though only 16 floors of 19 floors are now open. None of the dizzying mirror finished pillars of TKS. Eventually even observation gardens will be opened for the public. A super long skybridge from Telford Plaza to it would be perfect.

Kowloon Bay is developing its skyline quite nicely.

Megabox has a bit of everything and although quite busy, I never really felt crushed in like at APM because it's very spacious. Langham Place has tiny floorplates for each level of shopping in comparison.

Deadend at 16th floor. Eventually there will be 19 floors.

5+ Floors of all eating.

What's happening directly in front?

"First “Mega Gachapon Town” in Hong Kong
1000 Gachapon machines will together become the first Mega Gachapon Town in Hong Kong, making available the newest and largest collection of Gachapons to you!"

Australian B & Q is hilarious. In addition to dry wall as hkskyline mentioned, they are selling lawn mowers as featured items in the entrance of the store! Who in HK needs a lawn mower? I also found large wooden planks (such as those needed to build decks). Like someone is going to carry one of these wooden planks home to their condo and build a deck inside their sky box
Ho gow sew ar.

Stepping out into 92% humidity and my lense was fogged up

I really think MegaBox is a winner. The developers have taken the best bits of TKS + Langham Place and created a new landmark for HK.

Chadstone is a suburban shopping centre in Melbourne, with 457 stores.
It has a bit of everything, in terms of shops. No theme parks etc though.
It's currently undergoing redevelopment, and once finished will be the largest in Australia with 500+ stores and 190,000 sq m of GLA.

There are many malls around the world that are more special/distinctive and several times larger, but since I haven't visited them, this is my favourite.

I would imagine that, except for those few who have traveled the world extensively, most people's favorite mall would be the one they know the best. But that's just my opinion.

So anyway, my favorite mall is definately South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa, California.

Not a mall fan, but of the ones in Copenhagen I find myself visiting Fisketorvet the most..

124 shops - 57.000m2.

Good central location near the water and new construction, great selection of electronic shops, plenty of free parking and nice design and a great cinema with the largest screen in Scandinavia

Overview ( 1,5years old )

It's not the largest in Copenhagen, but it is the one I use the most because of the location and design

Alternatively ( usually around Yule ) I visit Field's ( largest in Northern Europe and currently being expanded with shops, parking, a hotel and a cinema)

It's located in the upcomming buisness district 'Ørestad' and is pretty far way from me, so it's more to check up on the contruction rather than the shops themself I go there

160 shops - 115.000m2

B&Q is British, not Australian. Agreed though, great looking mall considering how awful and bland many of them can be.
