#T/O-Seef: "RAMEE MILLENNIUM HOTEL"

Ramee Group set to invest $106m

MANAMA: Dubai-based Ramee Group of Hotels will invest more than BD40 million ($106.1m) in Bahrain this year, it was revealed yesterday.

Work on a BD20m hotel has started in Seef, and work on another BD20m hotel will be launched in Juffair by the middle of this year, said group general manager Shantaram Shetty.

As part of the group's continuous investment, a first-class Kerala restaurant, the first of its kind in Bahrain, was opened at the Baisan International Hotel in Hoora.

Called Nattinpuram, the restaurant has been decorated in Kerala style with boats and village scenes, by bringing in traditional materials from the southern Indian state.

More than 250 people, including Indian community leaders, attended the opening ceremony.

"The restaurant, which has a seating capacity for more than 120 people, replaces the Al Hoora Banquet Hall in the hotel," said Mr Shetty.

"We have already invested BD75,000 to develop the new outlet.

"We shall continue similar investments in other parts of Bahrain. Despite recession gripping the region, we are confident in the future of Bahrain as a tourist and investment destination."

Ramee Group has 37 properties in the Gulf and India.

"We started our operations in Bahrain in 1996, and since then our business has been growing steadily," said Mr Shetty.

"Currently, we have 10 properties in Bahrain - six hotels and four furnished apartments."

The hotels belonging to the group are Ramee International, Ramee Palace (both in Juffair), Baisan International Hotel, Metropolitan Hotel, Windsor Tower and Grand Hotel (all in Hoora).

There are three furnished apartments in Juffair and one in Hoora.

"The hotels and the apartments together offer around 750 rooms," said Mr Shetty.

"This will increase to more than 1,000 when the two new four-star hotels are opened."

The new hotel in Seef will have 120 rooms and 40 apartments, and the project is scheduled to be completed by end 2010, said Mr Shetty. "The new hotel in Juffair is in the tendering stage. It will have 120 rooms and 34 apartments," he added. "We recently invested BD350,000 for opening new lounges in Ramee Palace and Baisan."

Ramee Millennium Hotel will be Bahrain's first hotel with three basement levels.

It will have 8 resturants and 200 parking bays. Completion of the hotel is expected on April 2011.

April 2011??? So specific and soon..!?

They better get started soon if its more than a 10-storey tower... I'm guessing it'll be like a 15 storey one.. Not too tall... With the basement mainly reserved for parking...

And 8 resturaunts.. That's actually impressive.. Hope they'll be good quality type ones..

Actually they are working on the Ground floor right now and from the site sign render it looks like 25 to 30 floors. This hotel is in the Seef Commercial District BB2 category so I think a lot of these resturants will have direct access from the inner roads, will be interesting to see how it shapes up.

it might just be a bad render, but the tower looks like some sort of crap from the 80’s.

Is this different from the Millennium Tower in Seef by Hani Group? Who's the consultant and contractor for this Millennium hotel? The image above is cropped on the details. Thanks.

Ramee Grand Hotel and Spa will be the group's first five-star hotel
The Ramee Group of Hotels will open its first five-star property in Q3, 2012 in Seef, Bahrain.

The group said in a statement released today (April 29) that the 166-key, 28-storey Ramee Grand Hotel and Spa would be Bahrain’s tallest hotel, standing at 115m tall, including three basements.

The hotel features seven F&B outlets, 800sq m of ballroom and meetings space, a designated floor for spa and recreation including a fitness centre, a ladies’ salon and a temperature-controlled infinity pool.

Chairman and managing worker VM Shetty commented: “Our presence in the UAE, Oman and India simplifies our job in attracting family tourists as well as MICE travellers to Bahrain.

“Our great success and presence in the kingdom, places us at an advantage with regards to our competitors. The kingdom’s strategic location as a midway point between Europe and Asia gives us the advantage of procuring the two powerhouses of the Asian market; India and China, huge exporters of business and leisure travellers, he added.

The group currently operates 37 properties in the budget segment across the UAE, Bahrain, India and Oman.

“The next Ramee Grand Hotel & Spa is on the drawing board for Dubai’s much sought-after Business Bay district, together with another project in Abu Dhabi’s Reem Island,” the group revealed in the statement.
