I'm from Poland and i'm really ashamed about this tacky staute. I feel that people who built this don't understand mean and rules of catholicism http://kanoniczne.info.pl/ . It's built only to fill priests pockets with Polish grandparents money (like basilica in Lichen) Church is self-destructing political institution nowadays in Poland, in 10 -20 years polish churches will be fullfilled only with wind.

What lies, if you knew the priest who built this you'd know that this is a project of passion, built on shoestring. It's people like you that let the faith die, what do you do but sit on the Internet and mock? Are you so holy?

Well it's maybe against your taste. But yu have right to your own opinion. It's ok. nobody will be mad at yu because of that. But plizzzz! Let us have our own opinions too, spend money earned by ourselves in the way we do want and show our faith as we wish.

No, but perhaps it should be... Anyway I thought by "we" you mean all catholics in Poland which would be rather weird

I must admit, I like the statue. With the crown it will be a huge lightning conductor tough. I wonder if the statue can withstand storms without damage.

A friend of mine by pure chance was passing by and saw it yesterday and said it looked very impressive in person. Lot people of viewing it

For such a little project it sure made world headlines, number 1 most read story on the BBC news website ATM.

Knowing our Polish ever-present entrepreneurial spirit this will get monetarized very quickly. Look out for souvenir shops, local Christ-inspired brew, statue tours, viewing events, all-inclusive pilgrimages etc.

Lichen pulls in 1.5 million tourists per year, not too shabby. Swiebodzin (little tiny backwater town) got probably 10 million dollars worth of international promotion thanks to this. They will milk it for all its worth for sure.
