The first one isn't from 1985. It looks to be from around 1989. It's interesting to see the shipping cranes at White Bay too, which haven't been there in more recent times.

I would lean towards 1989 as well - the viaducts from Pyrmont St to Pyrmont Bridge Rd/Miller St look like they are in use (opened in 1987).

Definitely later than 85 - Bicentennial Park at Glebe has been completed, and the bulk fuel storage removed to the west of it

Grosvenor Place which is featured in the skyline was not around in 1985 as it was under construction.

Good shot. Looks to be around 1990??? Lots of construction activity around Sussex Street with BT Tower topping out, Hotel Nikko (Four Seasons Hotel) and I am sure the core of Piccadilly Tower (Stockland Tower) is also rising in the background.

This thread is of old images of Sydney in colour. No black and white images.
The newspaper scans are really Culwulla's.

Agree that this isn't the right thread, but it's a photo well worth showing - maybe post it here? http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showth...9#post56634679

The first shot is looking down Macquarie St, I assume around the Queen's visit in either 1970 (Bicentenray of Cook's landing) or 1973 (Opera House opening). The former most likely - and interesting seeing that view of the building demolished for the Supreme Court (and the Morris Major and Austin A40!)

Nice to see some photos of the old Manly Baths before they were destroyed in 1974.

Wow look at that 1989 World Square pic. The Southern end of the CBD was basically low rise. How it has changed now, it challenges with the density of the North end these days.

Yeah, there was virtually nothing. I've borrowed a book from the library where you should see Sussex Street circa 1981 with none of the highrise you would find. In fact it could easily be a street in one of the inner suburbs and not the CBD.
Nice to see Latitudes core taking shape as well.
