Did the M's just give up on this year? Wtf

Shouldnt we be trying to get some decent pitching. Now we are stuck with damn Olson and Jakubauskas who couldnt pitch their way out of a paper bag.

The M's had less than a 5% chance of making the playoffs. They were 8 games back with two teams ahead of them. Washburn has been bad for the M's every year until this year. Surprisingly enough he started to perform once we had a better outfield.

French is a younger version of Washburn for a lot less money. Snell and French will be pitching, not Olson and Jakubauskas.

I remember something like this 2 years ago. I wasn't following in too much that season, but I recall the Ms were pretty much in the running for either the AL West or WC, but then had this tremendous 13 or so game losing streak.

The summer meltdown is almost an annual event for the Mariners. That's why I'm glad they did a sort of fire sale. Let's get some talent in here and build a real contender for the future.

I watched the first 7 innings at a bar near my apartment. Felix didn't look like a Cy Young winner tonight.

I didn't know it was a walk off dinger. Damn, wish I would have stayed to the end. It was getting late though.

http://scores.seattletimes.nwsource....2&report=stats
16-5 record with about 2 starts left
2.45 ERA
196 SO
216.1 innings pitched
And I think his opponents batting average is about .220

That's a good Cy Young-type season.

Bond, I meant last night. I LOVE Felix! The early hits and some wild pitches made him look a little off his CY Young track is all I meant. I just hope the Ms do what it takes to keep him happy.

OIC.

Freddy's pitching style doesn't "look" like a Cy Young pitcher. He sorta looks like he's being lazy and isn't taking it too seriously - especially with that crooked cap.

But his numbers speak for themselves.

Leave it to the Seattle Times to put a negative spin on one of the best players the Mariners have brought up since randy Johnson.

Felix Hernandez's transformation could cost Mariners millions

The Mariners have been worth more than crap for a while now. Between the sweetheart stadium deal (one of the best in baseball) and the massive tv contract, (biggest in baseball behind only Atlanta, Boston and NYC I think) the Mariners are a profitable and valuable franchise. Mariners fans have stuck with that franchise through thick and thin, it's about time the team recognizes that and gives Felix what he deserves. The Mariners can afford it, they just don't want the fans to think so. The Mariners owners are all about making $$$$$$.

You all need to watch this video. It's Ichiro meeting Griffey Jr (and Sr.) for this first... BUT he's still playing in Japan and clearly star struck to be around Griffey. This is a side of Ichiro I've never seen before!

And what a great way to end the season yesterday, both Ichiro and Griffey were carried off some the shoulders after the team did a thank-you walk around the track. Felix over Greinke for Cy Young!

I saw the photo in the Times. The photo had a whole new feel to me after seeing the video I posted.

I like the feel good ending to the Mariners season, winning on a high note, Griffey being in town, Ichiro being Ichiro, Felix putting himself in the CY Young race, the transformation from last year on and on, but I'm not very optimistic yet. Is Mariners management going to make the right moves to become a playoff team or, gasp, a World Series contender? I'll believe it when I see it.

PS. Mariners management, please make me eat my words, PLEASE!!!
