Since The Link opens today... It should be part of Seattle history now. Seattle have long history of struggling to get a decent public transit system. Finally Seattle have one but not good as other cities and European yet. This is only beginning. Within few decades from now, Seattle will have a decent public transit system.

Was life really that dorky in 1962? Yes, I'm afraid so.

I have a few old postcards of Space Needle back in the '60's as well as Mt. Helens eruption, too.

Great thread!

I am constantly kicking myself in the ass because I hardly took any pictures of Seattle after I moved here in '88. I would love to remind myself how certain parts of the city looked back then. Not to mention getting shots of 2 Union Square and some other late-80's towers being built.

That sucks!

I still want to see pictures of Washington Mutual Tower being built. I only seen top part but not entire tower. I tried to find it anywhere on internet. No luck so far.

I also like to see the pictures of old Tacoma.

Dug-up Some Old Shots

Here's a Q&D exercise -- "pictures of pictures" -- I went through a box of old prints. Some day I need to scan the negs! The date range is 1981 to 1984 (pretty sure). I'll try to find some more...

If I am not mistaken, that is the excavation for the king of Seattle skyscrapers, Columbia Center.

Blue Cranes

pwalker is correct... that's the CC coming out of the hole.

I will try find some more (but it is all the same vintage: 1979-1984).

Here's a pano from the Belevedere Viewpoint. The building under construction between Pacific Northwest Bell and the Sheraton is... Century Square. Hmmm... I was into panos even way back then!
