Since I known Berlin was going to have a unique airport I always called it as Berlin Brandenburg! The word "Brandenburg" sounds powerfully as this airport will be!

I think the word "international" must be erased from airport names. Maybe we could use the more astounding word "intercontinental". But I think it must be given only to airports they are serving destination to at least 3 continents outside Europe.

Although "Brandenburg" is quite a poor area in Germany heheh.

I think it's gonna be known as Berlin International worldwide.

actually in the recent years, Brandenburg's infrastructure has been modernized and joblessness has slowly declined. There are quite posh areas like Potsdam, and very poor areas like the Uckermark. i wouldn´t say it´s a poor area at all...Brandenburg (2,5 million inhabitants) had an BIP (GDP) in 2010 of 56 billion €. (that´s about 134 billion Real) according to Wikipedia, the Brasilian State of Santa Catarina (with about 5,9 million inhabitants) and it´s famous city of Blumenau had a BIP (GDP) of 39 billion € (or 93 billion Real) in 2006... (don´t want to be rude..btw Berlin is a poor city in Germany, usually a Capital should be in a much better shape i.e.: Berlin: 95 billion € BIP (or GDP) and London (9,3 million inhabitants) had a GDP of about 429 billion € in 2008)...that´s why the Berlin Major once said "Berlin is poor, but sexy."...and that´s true, hehehe...the city IS poor...it suits to Brandenburg)

An international airport like BER will bring in a lot of jobs plus indirect employment such as food service, transport, retail, and others.

This is a great opportunity for Brandenburg.

Good news for Berlin!

So, the German capital will be directly linked to these intercontinental destinations (Turkey, Israel and resorts excluded):

• Abu Dhabi (Air Berlin)
• Amman (Royal Jordanian)
• Beijing (Hainan Airlines)
• Cairo (EgyptAir)
• Casablanca (Royal Air Maroc)
• Doha (Qatar Airways)
• Hanoi (Vietnam Airlines)
• Los Angeles (Air Berlin)
• Miami (Air Berlin)
• Newark (United Airlines)
• New York JFK (Air Berlin)
• Tunis (Tunisair)
• Ulaanbaatar (MIAT Mongolian Airlines)
• Windhoek (Air Berlin)

Only LHR and JFK are more visited than

Berlin Brandenburg Airport

You could say the BER is the most watched Wikipedia airport article from a non-English speaking country...

The Hanoi longhaul connection is great news for BER.
It would be nice, in the future, if JAL and AB would offer codeshare on a possible Berlin - Haneda or NRT route with the 787...although it seems unlikely right now. Or maybe ANA with LH...well

Right now the BER Article has almost 50.000 page views in the last 30 days and is on par with the JFK airport article which is the 2nd most clicked airport article on Wikipedia.

I think its quite amazing because the BER is not operating yet. So potential passengers are not yet the readers I assume....

A comment to my previous entry. JAL might be adding BER and DUS to its 787 network according to an article. Also MAD is under consideration.
