And something deep inside tells me, that the flight to chicago will very likely depart from Tegel. ( why do they need a press conference, if they are sure that they will make it until march 17th.....)

The relevant discussion rather deals with future expansions of the BER because most political decision makers already know the need for more capacity right after the opening of the BER. |

ehmm, not quite correct! Whilst future expansion plans are certainly in discussion, the actual date for the opening of BER is still in limbo, and so 'yes, a final decision on the opening date in 2013' will be made in the next 4 weeks' (mid-August).

FYI - for those of you who haven't seen the latest pics yet. Below a few pics of the now completed 'magic carpet' in the check-in hall, plus one more pic of the jetbridge with the "necklace" around it!
Especially the magic carpet looks pretty amazing, don't you think? ... just a shame we have to wait this long before the airport opens. ![]() ![]() ![]()

![]() Both, the magic carpet and the necklace look fantastic!!! ![]() The idea of implementing such big art instalations in public buildings should be much more wide-spread! It brings culture into the daily life of travellers who perhaps usually don´t visit a museum or an art exhibition.

Don´t like the magic carpet.
No style, no elegance, no power. The color of it doesn´t match with the corporate design and the info walls..... But the worst thing: No originality. It seems to be a bad copy of the San Francisco Airport Art.

Really like the magic carpet. But they should have used some more innovative way to keep it floating. You know, like magic. Perhaps with magnetic fields or so. And how awesome would it be if it moved around in the hall.

Regarding colour: it HAS to be different to stand out! The corporate colour/red is meant to be subtle - but this piece of art is meant to be on its own. If anything I'd criticise that it's hanging too low! I can already see youngsters trying to throw stuff up and over it and it looks a bit fragile.
