Apart from the Terminal not meeting safety regulations wasn't the terminal insufficient far as capacity is concerned therefore plans are in place to expand the terminal?

The former is correct, and I can't believe it's taken them this long to straighten this out. I expect more efficiency from the Germans, and this has become an enormous boondoggle.

And if it opens and doesn't have enough capacity, it looks like they have plenty of room for expansion. In point of fact they demoed Schoenfeld's runway when the built Brandenburg. I thought this was a mistake. It was an instant third runway. And it looks like they already cleared land for a western terminal.

The airport has a new problem. The roof of the main terminal is too heavy due to some fire protection venting. They have to be replaced and the statics has to be checked again. Untill that any contruction in the main terminal is interrupted.

The airport should be bulldozed.

I'm astound this ghost terminal continues to unveil new faults within its design...

The engineers must be beyond red faced with the engineering disaster...

All of that is quite ungerman. Probably, we need to reconquer the core lands.

The context of my post was not blaming any one, nor playing the fault card. It was basically stating the challenges Germany are going through at the moment.

Well well now this is an even worse attempt at trying to make me feel guilty which I'm not, nor will ever be so deal with it.

I'm just interested why was Tempelhof closed? It is quite huge and the area where it sits is large enough to turn it into a lake or mountain ( ). If the Berliners really had to replace it with a new one, why did they close Tempelhof in 2008 instead using it until the new airport is finished? Now Berlin has two gigantic airports which are unusable and won't be for a very long time, if ever...

Also, this project is way too ridiculous for a country that is so well known all over the world for its organization and engineering. It's just a disgrace for Berlin and Germany and if it was up to me, I would bomb it to the ground.

It's such a shame that this airport was plagued by so many problems. Tegel is not a particularly nice airport and Berlin needed a newer replacement. Munich airport looks absolutely stunning, the new renovations to Frankfurt make the airport look very nice too and have improved its functionality, so it's a shame that Berlin doesn't have a showcase airport like these.

Berlin has been Germany's Detroit or even worse for years. Just due to the airport this national fact is winning international attention.
