Wohnpark Alt-Erlaa | Vienna
I've searched this "commie" forum and didn't find posts about this complex in Vienna. For me, these are by far the best commie blocks I've ever seen! Here is some info I found:
This housing estate contains about 3.172 flats for 10.000 occupants and a underground car park with a capacity of 3.400 parking spaces. On the roof of the buildings there are seven swimming pools. Additional there are seven indoor swimming pools and sauna´s. This residential community is like a small city: It contains 2 Medical Centers, 3 Schools, 2 Kindergardens, 1 Gym, Tennis Courts, a Church, an administrative building, and a shopping mall. Since 1995 this housing complex has its own underground station (U6-Alt Erlaa). ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Google Earth perspective: ![]() And two videos: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=35YdhKWjaEg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WrYh4Gm2NcE Last edited by liman_drzava; February 16th, 2009 at 06:26 PM. |

I´m not from Vienna, but I´m often there
![]() Alt-Erlaa isn´t a bad neighbourhood at all and like you can see on the pictures (which are very nice, by the way) they were not made for "poor people". I once read that the higher the flats the more expensive they are. |

Fantastic pictures. Thay have been here in Skyscrapercity, and probably in commieblock fanclub pages, but I can't remember anymore, where exactly. I was very very amazed when I saw something like that! One of the best examples on Earth of that kind of buidings and stuff.

I´m pretty sure Alt Erlaa is not social housing! I´ve been there one time (i did a photografy Project about it) and it didnt looked like social housing at all. Also the people there didnt seemed to be poor, but looked rather wealthy.
