The city looks awesome, far nicer than most if not all German cities with a similar size. Does anybody know if there's a good book with pictures of Zagreb (what we in German call "bildband", "beau livre" in French, coffee table book etc).

Thanks, but I think you have underrated German cities for sure
They're much cleaner when it comes to graffiti, facade renovations and so on, but we can only hope that situation will improve in the following years in our city.

About the book...yeah, I have seen many of them in our bookstores, but I'm not sure if they can be found in Germany.
If not, I'm sure they can be found and ordered on the internet.

Gora nego Trnje.

Recently bought a book about Warsaw...much easier to do that online since we've got plenty of Poles in Germany and therefore there are a number of online shops that cater to that community. If only Croats had the same thing. Is there something like an amazon.hr where one could look for these kinds of books?

About German cities. We have shitloads of graffiti in the east and the days of German cities being neat and clean are sadly over. Same problem with our infrastructure. You have a hard time avoiding potholes these days.

That actually surprises me, because I know many Croatian "gastarbeiters" live in Germany for decades. Well, don't know about amazon tho, but I found this on one page of our most popular bookstore companies (Profil)

As for the book, in my opinion the best photo book about Zagreb (tho a bit old, its from 2003) is Zagreb Zagreb by Pervan & Ljubičić

http://www.superknjizara.hr/index.ph...d_knjiga=21662

Or a used one:

The photographer, Ivo Pervan, is one of my personal favourits

Yea it’s a cool book with an imaginative title, but don’t get carried away; as Masonic stressed out, Zagreb does have problems invisible on photos.

And btw a Kölner named Hermann Bollé is the key man when it comes to shaping up Zagreb into a city as it is today.

Amen!
