wow what a great way to ruin a strategic component of the air force by turning the 707 tankers into airliners. Did they not realize they just damaged their operation hours of their fighters by doing that? I guess the people in charge have no clue what they are doing.

Also, their "domestic" made fighter jets are nothing but re-shaped F-5s. I do give them credit for being able to know enough about structural importance and being able to turn the F-5 into a twin tail fighter, but it's far from a domestic made plane.

One of the members here mentioned something in the lines of the Mehrabad Airport being an aviation museum and I really got a kick out of that. Who ever said it, your comment is very well put. I understand that they are under sanctions and cannot acquire modern new planes, but that does not mean purchase more older planes and add them to the already aging fleet. They should simply cancel all domestic flights and use other sources such as Trains or Buses for traveling inside the country, that way they will be able to focus most of their fleet for international flights and focus other assets in keeping their air force air worthy and not hindering it with ruining air tankers. What are they going to do next, take their 747 tankers and turn them into passenger planes?

no cuz Iran has the biggest domestic flight network in the world ofter the USA, also Iran has purchased in the last year 10 planes

4: A 300-600
2: F100
2: A 310-300
2: A 300 B4's

iran's domestic market is huge trains are not capable to handle all that, also Mahan Air add some modern planes like B 747-422s
also Iran ordered like 200brand new TU204s....

Still does not defeat the fact they took a military plane and turned it into a passenger plane. I don't know how much you know about military aircraft, but fuel tankers are a very important asset to an air force.

If their trains can't handle the amount of traffic and passengers, well than they need to build more rail roads.

200 brand new TU204s? When their last combat aircraft purchased was the Mig 29 how many years ago? They seriously have their priorities straight for sure. While UAE is stockpiling new fighters.

I believe everything you said when I see the so called planes in Iranian airports/air fields with Iranian insignias. For now they are all talk and we both know how much talk the Iranian media does. They talk about building a lot of things but we don't see much of it. I'm sorry, why don't they show an actual picture of their so called "domestic" fighter jets in action? or how about actual footage of their Zolfagar main battle tank? Even their so called "domestic" made missiles are NoDong North Korean missiles which are a modified Scud C. I wouldn't count on the dates mentioned either, I mean how many dates has the Iranian Media gave regarding the start up of the Bushehr reactor?

And I don't know where you got the information about the 50 military jets to be purchased, but Iran has not made any combat aircraft purchase in decades and does not plan on purchasing anything in the upcoming years. And even if they purchase any combat aircraft, the aircraft alone is not going to do anything. They need to acquire training for the so called fighters, maintenance infrastructure and parts.

Yes all the UAE equipment that is being purchased is western US aircraft, modern, up to date. You just mentioned that Iran in fact has a big rail road infrastructure, then they need to put it into use and stop relying so heavily on airlines for domestic transportation.

I enjoyed going through this thread and viewing the picture of all the aircraft that is flown by the Iranian Airlines but when I hit the page regarding the pictures of the Boeing 707 tankers being turned into passenger planes I was in shock.

people prefer more to use airlines cuz it's faster, also Iran has purchased 7 Airbus 320-200 for Iran Air just check on www.airliners.net , also it has ordered the fighter jets from russia so that would not be a problem to get parts...
I know butI flew whit saha air B 707-300 and it's very nice and comfortable I flew THR-MSD (Mashad). also the railrads ae in use, but Iran has a big population....

I'm happy you enjoyd it

It is a little ebarrasing that the B707 still flies in Iran though, as its flying nowhere else as a commercial passenger aircraft, even if it attracts the odd aircraft enthusiast tourist.

No it's a Persian Symbol and it's not pegasus..

Persepolis was the capital of the mighty ancient Persian
Empire. It was a beautiful city, adorned with precious artworks
of which unfortunately very little survives today. When
Alexander the Great conquered the city, he gave orders to the
Macedonians to destroy it, in the similar fashion as they had
already done in with Thebes when Greece was conquered.
The palace of the Persian Achaemenid kings was burned, the
city was looted and its citizens massacred, in one of the most
brutal and savage acts in history. Most of the sculptures were
also destroyed and what remains is very little that still testifies
of the great artistic abilities of the ancient Persians. The
Persian Horse is one such proof of the greatness of the
ancient Persian art. This is a hand carved sculpture of an
ancient Persian horse, one of the many that once decorated
the palaces of the Persian "kings of the kings". It was first
carved in clay, and then it was produced in cast stone. Ancient
Sculpture Gallery is proud to offer for the first time ever to the
admirer of the much ignored and underestimated beautiful
Persian art, a unique opportunity to own a unique Persian
masterpiece.

this is what the logo means, It's symbol for ancient Persian art

Iran, Kuwait's Private Airline Launch New Route

Under a newly signed agreement between Kuwait's Jazeera Airways and Shahid Beheshti airport in Isfahan, direct flights will be carried out between the central Iranian city and Kuwait city.

The agreement means that now almost all major Iranian cities namely Tehran, Shiraz, Mashhad and Isfahan will have direct flights to Kuwait, the Islamic republic news agency reported.

The direct flights between the Persian Gulf state and the central city of Isfahan are scheduled on odd days, the first of which was carried out on Sunday.

Kuwait's Jazeera Airways was established in 2004 as the country's first and only privately owned airline. It started operation on October 30, 2005.
