Yes, I think one of the press releases was wrong as well.

On another note, probably due to Norouz, Germania has used an A321 from Berlin to Tehran Demand can't be too bad then

Did you mean 2x weekly flights? I mean, 2x daily may seem to be more difficult to operate than 2x weekly, especially with limited resources... and by the way, it's interesting that Mahan Air flies to the Indian Ocean nation some 6 to 7 hours away (if it is a regular flight). Maybe it is a charter service or a one-off.

No actually, it's 2x Daily

Mahan Air uses one of their 3 A340-300s on the route, it has been operated for the past week.

I think it's seasonal.

Twice daily is extreme even if seasonal charter, definitely not tourism related.

On page one of this thread you mentioned Dragon Air Cargo from Hong Kong serving THR, the only East Asian carriers that have operated scheduled to Iran are JAL, Singapore Airlines, Air Asia X and CHina Southern no one else, if there others do tell.

these are facts, I put the source on it...

It's Norouz, Persian holidays, people travel a lot this time of the year in Iran and they use tour operators, so it is possible!

Dragon Air used to have chartered Cargo back in the time...

Jal never served Iran, Singapore Airlines did only in the 70s and Air AsiaX has suspended all of their flight a while ago

Tehran is on JAL route map of 1970s, Dragon cargo is debatable without a source, some even insist Korean Air flew to THR and Thai had techstops there in the 1970s when SAS used to operate flights for them.

Taiwans China Airlines did fly a single 747 cargo charter to Tehran in 2004 with earthquake relief supplies.

Does someone know if Theran has direct flights from/to Sulaymaniyah International Airport (ISU), Iraq and how much a two-way flight would cost?

Yes, Caspian Airlines flies to Sulaymaniyah. Because it is an Iranian airline, you will struggle to buy the ticket from outside Iran...

Would a single carrier in Iran have been better than so many? like Aeroflot was in USSR days, or are their advantages to having so many, isnt fuel cheap there and fares too or are the airlines all competing with cheaper pricing?
