Ey baba, by that time Iranian airlines have ordered +500 of A380s

Oh okay. I meant the fact that Iranians perform maintenance, I couldn't care less about the owners. But that does make sense, ton of Iranians in UAE.

But seriously though, by 2030, damn well better be some 20-30 in Iran. Hub-business should be taking off by then, otherwise

I don't really care about etnicity, just wanted to say that after the sanctions many of Iranian companies left Iran and went to UAE. So that company might be "Iranian" but labled UAE

Ah, got it. Very plausible. Hope Iranian-German ties improve. Those Germans are the best at almost everything, and could teach Iran a thing or two. And German-Iranian ties have always been strong.

As for a380's, can't wait.

I think after sanctions, many Iranian airlines need to have design competitions to get new liveries. Preferably Western designers. Hopefully they can incorporate some ancient Iranian styles into it, or calligraphy. Who knows.

The A380 is the ugliest aircraft Airbus made so far...

The 747-8 is such a beauty and with the Iran Air retro livery it will look sunning

Well it's more a prestige thing. And a380's technology is about 50 years ahead of the 747, also the -8. But the -8 does look better, you're right on that.

Great looking! Perhaps paint the engines green as well? Or at least put the Mahan logo on it?
Anyway, get the rest painted and into service ASAP! This is a huge improvement for the fleet, makes it younger by decades.

Any news on any new planes being negotiated? Any 777s in the pipeline? Thanks.

Maybe, but I doubt they will say it before the airplanes have landed at Tehran, like they did this time with the A340s &A321.

Indeed, yes I read that article. But I was guessing 'people on the ground in Iran' perhaps knew something. Not with the nuclear deal about to be concluded, I thought more was in the pipleline (there is probably).

Israel is also crying about this, google news it. Saying the US 'allowed this sale'. Good. Iran wil buy more planes in the coming year than Israel has in 50 years.

Israel know nothing about this, and many other things... but they like to have a say in everything no matter if it is wrong or correct.
Anyway, their opinion is not important and it doesn't prevent Iran to buy aircraft.

The first time I heard about the A340s incoming was the day they arrived, and I'm quite active on the Iranian aviation news. The only way to know in advance is to have relatives in Iranian Aviation industry or Mahan Air etc...

Cool! It was really kept secret eh? But since you are quite in the know, I'd like to see a picture of the 757 that has been acquired in 2015? I mean that was one/two of the 15 new aircraft for Iranian airlines? Are there any pictures of that? It's quite a rare airplane, the 757, so all the more awesome to see it.

As to another question. Let's say Tehran wanted to become a hub, or at least build a large new airport a380 capable, would it be wise to just add to IKIA? Or could Tehran demolish Mehrabad, let IKIA handle more domestic/regional flights, and build a new airport in Mehrabad (which will also be linked with metro etc). Or just a new, third site somewhere?
