It's too much of a little thing to get bad propaganda about. China is doing this: trading with Iran at a tune of over 50 billion a year, while officially completely sanctioning them. Pretty much, without China, Iran would have been completely bankrupt already. A couple of second hand aircraft don't matter much in the big picture, but are nasty for PR reasons.

Hi Bilding,

The article is from April 2015 and it says that Taban airlines past Saturday had its first flight to Lahore with 70 people going to Lahore and 117 coming back. The flight is on Saturdays and if the market is good, they may add more flights.

Also it says that Shaheen Airlines flies to Mashhad every Sunday.

Concerning the Mahan Air A346 aircraft acquired 08MAY15, I have the following construction numbers matched to these new registrations:

371
376
383 EP-MMG
391 EP-MMH
416 EP-MMR
449
615

And I have the following two new registrations without matched construction numbers:

EP-MMI
EP-MMQ

Do you have a full list of matched cn / registrations for the nine a/c Mahan Air received?

Any assistance appreciated.

You demanded the new registrations for Mahan Air's A346s but they also got one A343. If you want to know the registration of it is it EP-MMD. Constructions number is 164

In reference to EP-MMI, I've seen the older listing for A310 and a newer listing for A340. So yes, I'm confused by that, as well.

Iranian liveries are so cheap and ugly. Qeshm probably has the best but I don't understand why they all need to have a big ugly flag on it. Looks horrible.

I still will fly foreign airlines. Buying 757s and old A340s that every other airline is phasing out does not impress me.

Also, Iran should not have so many different airlines. It should be Iran Air and Mahan Air and maybe one or two carriers focusing on domestic flights or out of hubs such as Shiraz, Mashhad and Tabriz.

A smart move would be to buy 50 to 100 Bombardier CS100 and CS300. They are cheap, efficient and the best planes for domestic and regional routes. Much better than 737-700, A319 or Avro jets.

That quite concerns me a lot: why do most Iranian carriers have the full Iranian flag painted on the aircraft when those can actually be smaller and placed at the rear portion (next to the aircraft registration code)? I mean, yes, that will make identification easy, but I think the flag detracts from the overall livery schemes found in those airlines.

And by the way, yes, fleet simplification is great. But, I also believe in some competition as well between carriers. Which of the Iranian airlines operate as Low-Cost Carriers? And is Mahan Air a full-service carrier that can compete against IR?

According to here aircraft with construction number 449 is EP-MMI. Another pic can be found in that link. Hope it is correct

Mahan Air is much larger than Iran Air. They are not comparable. Iran Air is in shambles. They have less than 40 planes. Mahan Air has over 70.

There is no real competition. All these airlines are in a way government owned, prices are regulated and most of the airlines own a hand full planes. It is very inefficient.
