No they are producing a brand new one

but ifcourse with help from Russia and Ukraine

wich is still great because if we build these we don't need airbus and boeing anymore

also it will be build by HESA. here is some info about HESA:

Iran Aircraft Manufacturing Industrial Company (Persian: شرکت صنایع هواپیماسازی ایران, HESA) was established in 1976 and belongs to the Iran Aviation Industries Organization (IAIO). The company is located at Shahin Shahr, Isfahan. The company has thousands of square meters of available grounds and 250,000 square meters of shops and hangars are allocated to A/C part manufacturing, assembling, laboratories, flight test facilities and shops of preparation for production. The original factory built by Textron, was to produce Bell 214 of different configurations in Iran with a deal that involved several hundred helicopters and technology transfers. Reportedly the contract was so huge that a new Textron division had to be founded to meet Iranian demands and handle the program with Maj-Gen Delk M Oden as president. The work was stopped due to Iranian Revolution and sanctions against Iran.

Accomplishments:

* Manufacturing Iran-140 passenger plane with Ukraine Cooperation.
* Design and manufacturing Ababil drone.[2]
* Manufacturing Shahed-278 helicopter
* Manufacturing propeller with composite materials
* Hovercraft repairs
* Manufacturing parts
* Azarakhsh
* Saeqeh (warplane)
* IAMI Shafaq
* Simorgh: The Simorgh (هواپيماي سيمرغ) is a HESA built two-seat Northrop F-5A to F-5B conversion. It was first flown in Iran airshow 2005, and two have been built.

Iran Aviation Industries Organization

The Iran Aviation Industries Organization (IAIO) was established in 1966 for the purpose of planning, controlling, and managing the military aviation industry of Iran.

The Iran Helicopter Support and Renewal Company (IHSRC), or PANHA, was formed in 1969, the Iranian Aircraft Industries (IACI) in 1970, and Iran Aircraft Manufacturing Industries Corporation (IAMI), also known under its Farsi acronym HESA, in 1974. Two other important companies, Iran Aviation Industries Organization of the Armed Forces, also known as the Iranian Armed Forces Aviation Industries Organization (IAFAIO), and GHODS Research Center were formed in the early 1980s.

Currently, the IAIO is responsible for directing five aviation organizations: SAHA, HESA, PANHA, GHODS, Shahid Basir Industry. These five organizations have different and complementary roles in the Iranian defense industry and Iranian civil aviation, and have progressed from repair and maintenance facilities to larger defence enterprises with several thousands employees, except for Ghods which has remained relatively small.

IAIO acts as a policy maker and coordinator to promote an indigenous Iranian aeronautical industry by providing and assisting the Iranian aircraft industries with needed technologies, knowledge and parts.

Major Projects

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has favored the the purchase of aircraft such as Iran-140 which are manufactured in Iran.

Iran’s Aviation Industries Organization plans to manufacture 100 advanced Tupolev Tu-214 and Tu-204 airplanes with a capacity of 210 persons each in cooperation with Russia within the next 10 years. Iran also intends to manufacture at least 50 Ka-32 helicopters in Iran under license of Kamov and negotiations are underway to manufacture 50 An-148 under licence, probably with similar arrangements as Iran-140 to be named Iran-148.Agreements were signed with Russia for co-development and co-manufacture of an uncertain amount of Tu-334 airliners in Iran with production to commence simultaneously both in Iran and Russia. Another agreement with Poltava Helicopter Company of Ukraine allows Iran to manufacture the Aerokopter AK1-3 ultra-light multi-purpose helicopters in Iran. Yet, Iran says it is prepared to order passenger planes from Boeing and Airbus if the United States lifts sanctions against Iran.

Overview

Iran's aviation industry is making rapid strides. As evidenced by the inaugural flight of Iran's indigenously designed and manufactured Azarakhsh and Saeqeh fighter jet to the mass production and launch of helicopters, turboprops, and passenger planes.

By September 2004, Iran Aviation Industry had produced more than 1,600 aircraft, 2,182 aero-engines, 1,751 helicopter engines, 149 industrial jet engines, in addition to repairing more than 11 models of aircraft and 18 models of military, commercial and industrial aircraft engines.

I completely agree with that and not just cause I dont like airbus but cause there are other factors which has lead me to boeing.
Any ideas what shape/model the widebody will have?
I also believe that by the time they design it, the sanctions will be lifted so its just rubbish talk

I don't agree.

the Tupoleves that iran has are old!

also Boeing made more crashes than Tupolev ever did!

the 747 made only more than 20 crashes!

the 737 more than 30!

the 727 around 20!

the 777 around 5!

and................................................................................

and please let's don't talk about airbus...!

I think Tupolev is doing very good, also Tupolev is in it's grow phase so who knows maybe it's even better than airbus and boeing in some time...

you see, Tupolev is very good but we in Iran get the old ones like 20 years old TU154s...
so it wouldn't suprise me if they would crash...it was Tupolevs one of it's first passenger jets...

also why must we order from airbus and boeing????.....to fill europe and americans their pockets???....

with help from Russia, Ukraine and China we can get the technologie to build one day our own planes and give our own people in Iran more jobs! instead of France and USA...

the 777 has only had one hull loss incident.

747 depends on the type but 80% were due to terrorism and the rest pilot error/maint etc

737- more than average due to the amount of 737's sold around the world is more than anything else

You have to also take into perspective how many Tupolev flights there are per day than Boeing or airbus.

I'm just saying that Boeing make better aircraft than the russians and a bit better than airbus. It doesnt matter whos pockets we fill as long as the aircraft is a safe one. I am also not throwing out the idea of iran building and designing aircraft as that would be a very good thing economic wise, but starting a completely new widebody/shorthaul aircraft when the main players are the ones 95% of airlines around the world will choose, it doesnt make sense. It will make sense if it sees a lot of orders, but I see nothing of sorts due to the fact that over the decades western countries have made iran into a bad image.

Like I said Tupolev is just in it's growing phase...The TU204 is a very safe and nice plane you can compare it with an A321

and whit the pocket fill I meant we can give our own people jobs instead of americans and french people.

We can never build bigger planes (80>passengers), because it is not economical... .
