And Air Astana will start three weekly flights from Almaty to Tehran with E190 in Spring 2016. Mahan Air already operates this route with two weekly I think.

This is not the same. Mahan Air used 320 to Birmingham and needed to refuel at Dusseldorf enroute to Birmingham. Germania used 319 from Hamburg to Mashhad and had to refuel at Ankara enroute to Hamburg.

Indeed, and the high elevation of IKA makes the situation different.

‘Iran will buy 450 Boeing, Airbus planes’

With the prospects for the removal of sanctions against Iran already looming, speculations are already rising that the country will need a much larger aviation fleet to better address what is seen to be a wider flight demand in the near future.

I agree. We should boycott the United States and don't do business with them at all.

Boeing is a great plane, probably even better than Airbus, but I refuse to do business with a country which congress is pleasing Bibi and tries to stop Iran from progressing.

If this visa waiver bill was about keeping terrorists out, they'veshould have put Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Afghanistan on that list too.

There are enough other nations in the world Iran could do business with.

I hope Iran will become like China in the future, then we'll be laughing at the US.

@persiangulf maybe we should let politics be politics and just find the best way to let our aviation finally become strong... All the big carriers are run by professional western businessmen who dont involve their companies into political matters and ignore doing business with any country because of political reasons.. But of course Irans carriers can become like a carrier like Kuwait Airways if you want. That can not be our aim. Instead, I prefer seeing e.g Mahan Air competing with EK and co but that is not possible if you let political developments have influence on your companies business. The aviation in our beautiful country has been ruined by politics for decades, let it finally have an end !

unfortunately we can't keep politics out of Iran's aviation industry as it are politics which kept us behind, and not only our aviation, but Iran in general.

Iran doesn't involve their airlines into political matters either, except for Mahan Air in Syria maybe.
Remember that our aviation industry is behind, because of American sanctions.

You can blame Iran for its policies, but then you should blame countries like KSA too, which are the biggest supporters of terrorism.
The US knows this as well, but they need Saudi oil and resources.

Kuwait Airways is growing and they've some great plans for the future, also I wouldn't consider Kuwait as an example as they have very good relations with the west, unlike Iran.

Basically we should kneel for US policies and US companies just because they are great, and meanwhile they can discriminate Iran, Iranians and let them lobby against us.

Airbus has great planes as well, and remember when ordering Boeing, it might still be a risk as the next US administration will probably sanction us for our missile system, human rights abuse and support for terrorism like they love to call it.

I love to see Boeings in Iran as well, but not at the price of just anything!
