Will Mahan get to reactivate their 744 fleet with the sanctions gone?

The world upside down... American media don't mention Boeing, German media does...

http://www.spiegel.de/wirtschaft/a-1073613.html

Anyway, it's going to be interesting to see how this will actually turn out in actual number of new firm orders and then also in actual deliveries. I wouldn't be the first time that big plans with big orders turn out sour in the end for both airlines and manufactures.

Could Iran Become the Next Dubai, an Aviation Superpower?

While the country was an international pariah, an Arab state saw and seized a prize that could have been theirs for the taking: crossroads of international aviation.

A lot of unconfirmed information going around now so I decided to summarize it all. What is confirmed, what can be expected, and when it will be done can be found here:

Even now the sanctions are (or are about to be fully) lifted it will still be very hard for Iranian airlines to compete with the ME3 on the intercontinental market. It's not a given that they will suddenly be a big player in the international market.

Not forgetting Turkish as well as the ME3. Iran is surrounded by top international airlines now.

Is there anywhere we can get information on specific iran air flights? IRA727 diverted while above Gothenburg (destination was Gothenburg) to Frankfurt. Anyone know why this flight diverted?

We have very thick fog here in Gothenburg, 100m visibility.

Iran Air will not in the first place even compete with ME3. ME3 will be affected of the situation but that will be a natural effect. Iran Air can be like Turkish Airlines, the basis in Iran are almost the same as in Turkey. Not very much alike UAE.

I think Turkish/Ataturk Airport will be the most affected by Iran getting new planes. I can see them drop below 60m in 2016 while their rivals in the top tier grow.

Why Jumbo? When most airlines are abandoning Jumbos and instead going for 777s, Dreamliners, and XWBs it doesn't really make much sense to go for Jumbos

The Iran Air order seems like a good order in my opinion.

Ah thanks. I checked other flights during that period and they landed fine. Is Iran Air so under-equipped that they aren't able to land in CATIII conditions?

Doesn't even look that Iran Air even tried to land or so, but usually they can land during these conditions at GOT. To be on the safe side it went to Frankfurt, where it can get fuel. No idea why Sweden still don't want to supply with fuel.
