So they will have OFAC in 20 days or is the final deal also contingent on OFAC?

Transport Minister said that 85% of the costs will be paid by Airbus and Iran Air will pay them over the years. Seems like a lease.

Iran Air will improve its livery as well. Read that on the Facebook page as answer to some questions.

They have received designs from international and Iranian designers and will decide whether to make minor changes or major changes to the current.

Italian insurance company Sace will finance it. The ultimate final deal is signed in 20 days from now.

I'm kind of surprised they didn't have any a321s in the initial order, seems like they would be ideal for a bunch of routes, but the rest of it seems sensible. I know a lot of people seem to be questioning the a380s, but I can't imagine there are many slots available at De Gaulle, Heathrow, JFK or LAX. Also hope they go for CSeries for regional/short haul routes.

I think the main reason for A380s will be Frankfurt, Paris, London, Toronto, LA, Sydney.

They will go for Bombardier for regional. Between 20 to 40. But Canada needs to lift sanctions.

I think the A320s will include A321s. They are ideal for less busy European capitals and could include planes that have fully flat bed business class.

I think Iran Air should refrain from getting Boeing at this point. Too many aircraft inreases the costs.

1. They said Iranians spent 5 million annually on foreign airlines. Should have been 5 billion on Persian Gulf airlines.

2. Disappointing that Iran Air will operate ATRs. They should be used by smaller airlines. Iran Air should have the CS100 for its regional fleet. ATRs had 3 crashes in the last 2 and a half years and no major airline uses them.

3. Still no information on whether Iran Air will get its own terminals, about new livery, classes of serivice, IFEs.

I am really not sure how they think they can compete with Persian Gulf cariers and bring back the old prestige?

But it is telling that Farhad Parvaresh said that the Iranian diaspora is large and we need to serve them. That means they just want a substandard airline with bett planes today to win back business from Iranians who rather fly direct even if it means having no entertainment, alcohol and generally inferior service.

Is this Iran Air's new livery? It looks horrible.

BRITISH AIRWAYS London flights

Does anyone know when British Airways will start selling reservations for London-Tehran? Travel agent said rumors are Virgin Atlantic wants to pull into Iran as well, and told me to wait. Have they flown to Iran before? I remember Virgin Atlantic flew in 2003-2004 in place of British Airways for a while, not sure.

You can expect that anytime soon as it is set to begin in March. http://www.aviationiran.com/2016/01/...ehran-flights/

Don't know why so many dislike the ATR....
It's a great aircraft. Iran has many small airports that need this type of aircraft, and for some airports in Iran an ATR is the biggest aircraft they can handle. ATR between secondary cities like Ahvaz-Shiraz, Tabriz-Kermanshah etc is perfect.

But now if you care about what airlines use ATR72 (which is irrelevant) here it is https://m.planespotters.net/operator...-42/ATR-72?p=1

Virgin will have to lose that female decal on their aircraft for IKA route, they have flown with it to Basra and Islamabad though in 2003 and 2005 with 744, charity flights.

Well the 72-600 has a poor saftey record. Operational for 4 years and 3 crashes.

No major airline uses it.

Dash-8 is much better.

Are you serious or just kidding ? In those crashes, it was concluded major pilot errors. It's like saying 777 has a poor safety record because of the 2014 2 consecutive MH crashes. It's false.
