Iran's Kish Air orders B737 MAX, A320s - Jadidi

Kish Air (Y9, Tehran Mehrabad) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mohammad Taqi Jadidi says the Iran carrier has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Boeing (BOE, Chicago O'Hare) for the purchase of ten B737 MAX.

In an interview with the Fars news agency, Jadidi said: "We recently negotiated with the representative of Boeing, which has been licensed to negotiate aircraft sales. The aircraft is able to travel 5 to 6 hours, for example, from Tehran Imam Khomeini to China, London, the Gulf states, Russia, Europe, Stockholm Arlanda and south to Sri Lanka."

During the same interview, the CEO also alluded to plans to acquire six A320 Family jets (said to be A320 and A321) by the end of the current Iranian year (ends March 2018).

Neither Boeing nor Airbus has commented on the reported.

Kish Air currently operates two A320-200s, two A321-200s, three Fokker 100s, four MD-82s, and three MD-83s on scheduled passenger flights to thirty-four destinations across Iran, Azerbaijan, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Georgia, Oman, Turkey, Ukraine, and Kuwait.

IranAir Plans New Int’l Routes as ATR Fleet Expands

IranAir eyes to expand its international services within the region as it plans to take delivery of a fifth and sixth ATR 72-600, both currently being prepared in France.

After initial difficulties with ATR’s engine manufacturer, IranAir cleared the way to receive the first batch of four aircraft in May 2017. With four aircraft delivered and two more planned for late-September or early-October, the airline will have a fleet of six ATRs, with roughly two months left of 2017. In a previous report, IranAir’s former Chairman and Managing Director projected a fleet of totally nine ATRs by the end of the year. Although in a more recent report by the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development, the airline expects two to four more ATRs until March 2018, IranAir’s newly appointed chief executive Farzaneh Sharafbafi said as quoted. That is to say, if IranAir’s projected objective of nine ATR aircraft by the end of 2017 is not reached, it should probably be the case by at latest March 2018.

The current four ATRs have for the most part yet been deployed on shorter domestic routes and unveiled new destinations such as Dezful, Ramsar and Nowshahr.

IranAir’s intent with the new ATR fleet has been clear since the beginning; increasing the connectivity to smaller Iranian cities. In an interview with Reuters in May 2017, Mr Parvaresh told that the primary aim is “to cover a populous arc in Iran’s northwest and northeast” and to “connect the small cities to the mega cities”. As the new two new aircraft will add 50% more capacity to the ATR fleet, the airline is examining potential regional routes between Iran’s border provinces and neighbouring countries. A few examples of the new services announced to be considered are Lar – Dubai; Lar – Doha; Rasht – Baku; Kish – Dubai; Ardabil – Van; Ardabil – Baku and Tabriz – Baku.

Five financing offers from China, Norway and some other European countries are slated to be made to IranAir ahead of mid-September 2017. The offers concern the financing of a package of seven aircraft, a method that Asghar Fakhrieh Kashan, DM of Roads and Urban Development, insists leads to better terms. If the first package proves to be successful, the airline will arrange future financing deals in an equivalent way. ATR should also have made an offer, according to a report by IRNA published in August 2017.

A300: Airliners forums
I think the delivery schedule is a little slower than that. Two more ATR 72-600 will be delivered late September (early Mehr Iranian calendar). They are to be EP-ITE and EP-ITF (currently F-WWET and F-WWEC). There are 7 to delivered in 2018 and 7 in 2019 for a total of 20.

A single A320 CEO (MSN 7978) is due to handed be over in late December 2017. A single ship will be delivered in January 2018, with two in February.

IranAir Expands Service to 5 European Destinations

IranAir plans to increase the frequency of flights from Tehran to a number of European destinations, a move in contrast to the airline’s trend during the recent years. The expansion is planned to take effect in late-October and early-November when the winter 2017/18 schedule comes into force.

As IranAir’s Hajj charters to Saudi Arabia come to an end in September 2017, the A330 and A300 fleets will once again available for European operations. The national carrier’s two Airbus A330s have from time to time operated flights to destinations on a non-scheduled basis. However, in the new winter schedule, both of IranAir’s A330s are for the first time set to operate flights to predetermined destinations on all weekdays.

The two A330s initially operated flights from Tehran to Gothenburg, Stockholm and Paris. Subsequently, the A330 fleet was also deployed to Hamburg and Frankfurt on a regular basis and to London and Cologne during the Hajj period (August – September). The frequency changes in the winter 2017/18 schedule, retrieved on 17 September 2017, is as follows:

Stockholm: two to three weekly (new Sunday departure), operated by A330. Effective 29 October 2017.
Cologne: one to two weekly (new Monday departure), operated by A300. Effective 30 October 2017.
Vienna: one to two weekly (new Wednesday departure), operated by A300. Effective 1 November 2017
Gothenburg: one to two weekly (new Thursday departure), operated by A330. Effective 2 November 2017.
Frankfurt: three to four weekly (new Friday departure), operated by A330. Effective 3 November 2017.
Moreover, one of Milan’s two weekly flights is scheduled to be operated by Airbus A330, replacing A300.

IranAir faces no direct competition on the three city pairs to Stockholm, Gothenburg and Cologne. On the Vienna and Frankfurt services, IranAir sees direct competition from codeshare partners Austrian Airlines and Lufthansa respectively. According to a note by IranAir’s France branch, the airline soon plans to change its Paris flights from Orly Airport (ORY) to Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG). Flights from Tehran to Paris-CDG would consequently be operated up to nine times a week by Air France, IranAir and Mahan Air, exclusively by A330 and A340 aircraft.

According to IranAir’s booking system, retrieved on 17 September 2017, the winter 2017/18 schedule for flights from Tehran to Europe is as follows:

Amsterdam, two weekly.
Cologne, two weekly.
Frankfurt, four weekly.
Gothenburg, two weekly.
Hamburg, two weekly.
London, three weekly
Milan, two weekly.
Moscow, one weekly.
Rome, one weekly.
Stockholm, three weekly.
Vienna, two weekly.
According to IranAir’s booking system, retrieved on 17 September 2017, the winter 2017/18 schedule for IranAir’s A330 flights from Tehran is as follows (note: IranAir operates two A330s, new A330 flights are marked in bold):

Monday: Gothenburg, Frankfurt
Tuesday: Paris, Milan
Wednesday: Stockholm, Frankfurt
Thursday: Gothenburg, Hamburg
Friday: Frankfurt, Paris
Saturday: Stockholm, Frankfurt
Sunday: Stockholm, Hamburg
The new flight schedules are valid until the end of March 2018, according to the booking system, and may change.

In September 2017, IranAir announced that it plans to expand its international network within the region as two ATR 72-600s will be delivered in late-September/early-October.

Is there any news about new A32x deliveries to Iran Air ? With so many MoU's and other orders signed this year by different Iranian airlines with different manufacturers I've lost track who ordered what and when..

In post 3229 there was mentioned that from Q3 onwards (which ended in September) Iran Air would get another 4 A320 deliveries. Didn't see any news about this however..

During last weekend’s delivery ceremony at Tehran-Mehrabad Airport, Farhad Parvaresh said that IranAir expects to add four Airbus A320s during 2017 and another five Airbus A321s in 2018, according to a report by Iran’s Ministry of Roads and Urban Development. In 2018, IranAir is also set to receive its first aircraft from the Boeing order.

In an earlier statement, the CEO had stated that the four Airbus A320s would arrive in the third quarter of 2017. However, he made clear that the plans may change if unforeseen events occur just like the delayed delivery of the second A330 due to financial issues. The aircraft was originally planned to be delivered prior to 20 March 2017. Currently, IranAir is in the process of selecting preferences and seats for the new Airbus A320s expected to be delivered later this year.
I'm assuming that for such a quick delivery these would also be ntu-frames as with the ex-Avianca ones, or are these actually going to be new-built frames ?

Iran Air to delay Belgrade launch

Quote:
Iran Air will delay the introduction of flights between Tehran and Belgrade which were due to commence tomorrow. This is despite being granted a permit by the Serbian Civil Aviation Directorate. Iran Air previously announced it would launch flights to Belgrade on January 13 and run the service twice per week, each Tuesday and Saturday. However, it is not uncommon for Iranian-based carriers to fail to execute announced plans and new routes. Earlier this week, the Head of the Public Relations Department of Iran’s Civil Aviation Organisation, Reza Ja’farzadeh, said services between the two countries would launch "very soon", adding that Iran Air, Qeshm Air and Air Serbia will run scheduled and charter flights between the two nations. Qeshm Air is due to commence a two-weekly service from Tehran to Belgrade from February 1. In addition, Mahan Air will operate a one-off charter between the Iranian and Serbian capitals on March 20 with its Airbus A310 aircraft. Iran Air's flights are likely to commence later this month, although the airline is yet to confirm a date.
