Kenyan Airlines May Introduce Direct Flights to Tehran
Feb. 22 (Bloomberg) -- Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will sign an agreement with Kenya, which will enable Kenyan Airways Ltd. to introduce direct flights to the Iranian capital, Tehran, Kenyan Foreign Minister Moses Wetangula said. The two countries will also sign cooperation accords in the fields of water, health and the avoidance of double tax during Ahmadinejad’s two-day visit, which begins on Feb. 24, Wetangula told reporters today in the capital, Nairobi. Negotiations that will enable Kenyan beef to be exported to Iran are at an advanced stage, he added. http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?p...I&refer=africa

Kish Air
Kish Air (Persian: کیش ایر) is an airline based in Tehran, Iran. It operates international, domestic and charter services as a scheduled carrier. Its main base is Mehrabad Airport, Tehran. History The airline was established on December 16, 1989 and started operations in 1989. It is owned by Kish Free Zone Organisation (79%), Kish Investment and Development (11%) and Kish Development and Servicing (10%). It has 303 employees (at March 2007). Kish Air is also closely connected with a chain of professionally maintained and well regarded English language institutes located in major cities throughout Iran bearing its name. They were originally established solely to teach their own employees English, but were eventually opened up to the public as demand sharply increased for quality English language instruction. Though the airline itself ceased ownership of the institutes long ago, the chain retains the name and Kish Air pilots and flight attendants continue to be sent there for language instruction. To start its passenger operations, after receiving temporary operations permission, the airline leased 2 aircraft (one Tupolev Tu-134 and one Antonov An-24) from Bulgaria Airlines on a wet lease basis. Kish Air received its air operator certificate (AOC) in 1990 after demonstrating it's competence to the Civil Aviation authorities, during its first year of operations, thus becoming the first private company to receive its AOC from Civil Aviation of Iran. At this time the company began wet leasing three Tupolev Tu-154Ms from Russian leasing companies, returning the previously leased Bulgarian aircraft. The company also wet leased two Yakovlev Yak-42D aircraft from Russia. Towards the end of 1992 the company was at the verge of bankruptcy, and most of the key managers were replaced by a new team, most of whom are still running the company successfully today. In 1999 Kish Air having enough financial strength, decided to replace its wet leased fleet with dry leased and purchased aircraft, and within a year was able to operate 2 dry leased and one purchased Tupolev Tu-154 aircraft, and hire and train the required air crew and maintenance personnel. At present Kish Air is operating a fleet of six medium range McDonnell Douglas MD-83 and Tupolev Tu-154M and six short range Fokker 50 on its domestic and international routes. Tehran-Algiers direct flight to become operational
![]() Algiers - Direct flight between Tehran and Algiers will become operational in the near future, said director general of the country's civil aviation organization. Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a ceremony to inaugurate Algiers-Beijing air route, Vahid Bu Abdullah added that New York-Algiers flight will also become operational. Iran's Ambassador to Algeria Hossein Abdi-Abyaneh had earlier announced the news. Several agreements in various fields including transportation were signed during President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's visit to the country in August 2007. Direct air link between the two countries will help develop bilateral ties which has always been underlined by the two countries' officials. http://www.zawya.com/Story.cfm/sidZA...%20operational

yes I read somewhere that the flights are always 70-80% full they are mostly Iranian students and Businessmen there is also a number of Iranian Tourists that go to Kuala Lumpur since KL is an very popular Tourist destination in Asia for the Iranians. now they are operating the 747-Sp to KL but from the summer it will be an 747-286BM, also Iran and Malaysia haves an strong economical and trade relation. But I can't really say that there are more Iranians on the flight Than Malaysians since I'm never used the route but I think it's fifty fifty.

Saha Air
Saha Air Lines (Persian: ساها) is an airline based in Tehran, Iran. It operates domestic passenger services with three 707s and occasional cargo charters with 747s. It was established in 1990 and is wholly owned by the Iranian Air Force. Regular domestic flights include daily flights from its base at Tehran's Mehrabad airport to Mashhad, Kish Island, Assoulyeh and its aircraft also make regular appearances at Shiraz. It is notable for being the last airline in the world to operate the Boeing 707 in passenger service. These particular aircraft are ex air-to-air tanker 707s, delivered in 1976 and pressed into passenger service due to sanctions by the USA which have stopped Iran acquiring new aircraft since 1979. Airline enthusiasts (including American citizens) make regular pilgrimages to Iran, including actual organised tour groups, to fly on the antique and well-maintained 707s. Due to their previous lives as military aircraft, the 707s have spent long periods in storage or only operating sporadic military missions, so for airline transports they have a very low number of hours on their airframes, about 25,000 hours each, meaning they may fly on for some time (the average life of a jet airliner is 100,000 hours). ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
