Aviation industry to be privatized: IPO chief

EHRAN -- Flag carrier Iran Air and its subsidiary, Iran Air Tour, have been put on the list of state-run companies to be privatized as part of the program to privatize the country’s aviation industry.

Iran Privatization Organization (IPO) Director Gholamreza Kord Zangeneh announced the plan here on Sunday, adding that the Homa Hotel Group and some airports are also on the privatization list.

Except for the Civil Aviation Organization, which is the regulating body of the country’s air transportation industry, all other state-run aviation companies are going to be transferred to the private sector, IRINN quoted Kord Zangeneh as saying.

In 2007, Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei called on government officials to speed up the implementation of the policies outlined in the amendment to Article 44 of the Constitution, which calls for the privatization of state-run companies.

According to the Fourth Five-Year Economic Development Plan (2005-2010), the Iran Privatization Organization, affiliated to the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Finance, is responsible for setting prices and offering shares of state-run companies on the privatization list to the general public

New aircraft type for Iran

Apparently according to CH-Aviation http://www.ch-aviation.ch/aircraft.p...ne=IRX&al_op=1 a site that gives upto date info on which aircraft are operated by which airline, Aria Air an operator of two Fokker F50 turboprops based in Lar, Fars Province, is leasing this IL-62 (a Soviet B707/B757 sized monster) from Sayat Air of Kazakhstan for its operations:

Russia delivers Tupolev's Tu-204 to Iran



Russia's Ilyushin Finance Company (IFC) is expected to deliver five Tupolev Tu-204 SM passenger aircrafts to the Islamic Republic.

"Russia was due to deliver five Tupolev Tu-204 SM planes to Iran in the first shipment, but there was a delay," IRNA quoted the deputy general director and technical director of Ilyushin Finance Company, Yuri Ostrovsky, as saying on Monday.

"We are now ready to deliver the planes to Iran based on an expedited time-table," he added.

The Tupolev Tu-204 is a twin-engine medium range Russian airliner capable of carrying 212 passengers. First introduced in 1989, it is considered broadly equivalent to the Boeing 757.

Iran plans to purchase passenger aircrafts to renovate its aviation fleet.

Ilyushin Finance Co. was founded in 1999. Member of 'United Aircraft Corporation' (UAC) of Russia, it carries a decade of experience in civil aircraft sales and leasing.

I wonder if IranAir will use its A320s to replace the old B727s or just fly both types?

They will fly the B727-200 also because we have the biggest domestic network in Central Asia and Middle east we need all the planes we can get....
They mostly use the 727 on their Tehran-Shiraz, Tehran-Mashad, and Tehran-Kerman route sometimes they used for Tehran-Moscow flights or Kish Island.

Then why is Iran Aseman Airlines storing so many Fokkers and ATRs?: http://www.gartal.com/page/iranaseman.aspx On this website http://www.gartal.com/page/fleet.aspx that shows an upto date record of active and stored aircraft in the Iranian Airline industry you can see IranAir and Mahan Air also have aircraft stored just doing nothing.
Could it be the global recession is hurting the Iranian airline industry maybe?

beceause those planes are also getting older and we haven't spare parts for those planes i guess....but "we" are trying to keep wath we have and Mahan Air Airbus 300B2 and a320 is stored because of damage on their Computer system.
That's the reason why Iran has ordered
50: Antonov-148 and 35 Tupolev 204-120s and a contract for another 100 Tupolev 204s.
We have also other Airline companies like:

Yes but that still doent explain why the Iran Aseman F100s and ATRs are stored. There is no problem with getting parts or servicing for those. Iran Aseman can even send its F100s to Amsterdam for overhaul if it wants. Thats why they are so popular in Iran. Maybe they just have too many and need larger aircraft.
