Incident: Iran A30B near Tehran on May 24th 2011, technical defect


An Iran Air Airbus A300-B4, registration EP-IBJ performing flight IR-409 from Tehran Mehradbad to Bushehr (Iran), was climbing out of Tehran about 10 minutes into the flight when the crew reported a technical fault and returned to Mehrabad for a safe landing about one hour after departure.

A replacement Airbus A300-B2 registration EP-IBS reached Bushehr with a delay of 6:45 hours.

EP-MNI was C-checked at IKA and shows her new cabin with ZIM seats and a nice entertainment system to us.

Either the initial versions of the Tu204-300 were equipped with the earlier PS90A version or the Americans only started objecting when production for Iran Airtours was about to commence.

Shame they dont have proper modern IFE. Is it because they cant afford it or they cant get it because of sanctions?

not that, but we also have to see reality, I mean who want's to invest alot of money in an 20 year old airbus...which will be scrapped or phased ot within the next 5-10 years anyway...
also maybe these planes don't have the technology for modern IFE systems,
but like I said, they don't care about interior...

More like 10-20 years in Iran. I think you can remove and re-install them elsewhere from aircraft that will be scrapped. Ive seen pics somwhere of an aircraft with the screens removed from the seats before scrapping.

I think you can fit them in almost any airliner (apart from the IL96 or IL86 because they have special seats with airvents and dropdown masks where the IFE screen would go). Your probably right. Its just not a priority.

The ex Mahan air A320, EP-MHJ, (was listed as scrapped) is now painted in Iran Air colours after a long Check at IKA and will join IR fleet with registration EP-IEC as soon as possible.
