yes, I wanted to wait with the news until I have got pictures with pictures of the painted aicrafts, but okay...

First A340 entered at THR and is currently at Aseman hangar for paintshop. It is going to start service at 22 Feb. with THR-SYZ THR-MHD and SYZ-KUL routes.
The aircrafts are 2 and 3 rd A340 ever built and round about 20 years old. Furthermore they were flying for Virgin Atlantic.

Well that was unexpected! :O

Is it going to stay with aseman or go to IRA?

On a side note I was looking at planespotters and noticed this:

EP-IBQ 389 Airbus A310-203 09-2001 Active TC-JCS lsf Airbus

either its a error or they somehow have been leasing this plane from airbus?

no they are going to fly for Aseman.
EP-IBQ is not leased from Airbus.

G-VHOL
G-VSEA

I guess the sanction doesnt apply to older used planes?

Not exactly sure of this as there are many planes which are currently and older the age of these `340's

IR droped GVA during September 2011. There was some rumours, Mahan Air could be interested to take over this destination.

Do you have more information?

  • EX-35011
  • leased from Kyrgyz Trans Avia
  • Ex JA016D (Japan Airlines)
  • First flight 2002 (newest A300 in Iran)

  • Iran Airtours has recieved second MD-82 from Taban Air: EP-MDD (ex. EP-ARA)

Mahan Air achieves record results in 2011

Mahan air has marked its 19th consecutive year of growth with a record performance despite a challenging business climate.
This year `s record results represent Mahan `s drive to grow and excel in serving it`s customers. Despite unforeseen challenges, Mahan has been able to produce record results. A record 4.9 million passengers (2010: 3.8 million) were carried showing a 28% growth. Passenger seat factor grew to 76%, indicates airline highest ever, a remarkable achievement given a substantial increase in capacity (available seat capacity) of 14%.The average delay per flight ,however, decreased by 32% during this period.

Incident: Iran F100 at Mashad on Jan 13th 2012, burst tyres on landing

An Iran Air Fokker 100, registration EP-CFP performing flight IR-511 from Dammam (Saudi Arabia) to Mashad (Iran), burst a number of main gear tyres while landing on Mashad's runway 31R. The aircraft slowed safely, however was disabled on the runway blocking runway and taxiway G.

The runway was closed for about one hour until the aircraft had been moved onto taxiway G.
