She's been away for a long time! I missed seeing her considering I had my first ever flight and the consecutive flights with her <3

Anyone have any idea what's going to happen to the A340's? I would like some inside information on such a important achievement. Pretty sure Iran aseman will not hang on to them from what I presume Iran air will offer them. An A340 is what exactly Iran air has been looking for in the past 12 years

as mentionend Aseman will use them for THR-SYZ THR-MHD and SYZ-KUL routes. I'm 100% sure that these planes won't go to IR, I heard the planes were intended to fly for W5 (there were rumors about 340 for them in the past), but somehow went to EP. IR has got big financial problems, thats why they stopped serving many cities (e.g bangkok, tokyo, mashad-bahrain,...) in 2011. Just compare the development of IR and W5 in the last years:
2011: IR: stops flying to rome, other international routes cutting, 727 crash
W5: new passenger record, shanghai added, new domestic routes, new A300, A310 and BAe aircraft
2010: IR: put on blacklist
W5: adds Phuket, Almaty, Kuala Lumpur, light domestic growth, 7 new A306 from LH

Mahan has become Iran's best carrier in the last years and and they should get 340 to serve other international cities like Manila... In many fields they are better than IR now.

I guess your right. from what I can see in this case, the reason why IR is struggling is probably the ageing fleet and people perception of their unworthiness. I would guess if IR gain newer aircraft they might be ok for the long term.

From Tehran (i am not sure about other cities). Today was a flight at 8:45 in the morning, they used AB6.

Incident: Iran F100 at Zahedan on Jan 25th 2012, smoke in cockpit

An Iran Air Fokker 100, registration EP-CFK performing flight IR-382 from Zahedan to Chahbahar (Iran), was climbing out of Zahedan when smoke began to emanate from the windshield heating prompting the crew to return to Zahedan for a safe landing.
