If the sanctions were lifted, Iranian airlines would be lining up to buy a HUGE number of new jet airliners. We're talking a country comparable in physical area to Saudi Arabia in size, hence the need for a larger number of new airliners. Iranian airlines would end up splitting an order for A320 Family planes that could approach 500 airframes! And that's not including possible A330-300 orders for higher-capacity regional flights and flights to Europe and much of eastern Asia.

I am confused, since a mahan spokeman said some time ago that mahan's strategy is not to compete on traditional Iran Air routes, but to set up new routes...

I wrote that in one of my own articles based on input of marketing experts from Mahan but I have not seen that offically coming from Mahan spokespeople.

Iran Air voted as having world's best logo: http://skift.com/2013/10/23/the-30-b...n-the-world/#1

Milan Mahan

Demand is probably high enough for Milan and generally Italy. I mean Alitalia and Iran Air also "compete" from Rome.

Any idea what magazine that's from? I just really hope some change comes about; I've been sick of hearing how the US is treating civilians.

Sadly my Farsi isn't good enough yet to read Iranian Press...

Part of the deal made today is the following:
  • License safety-related repairs and inspections inside Iran for certain Iranian airlines.

So how long before they start on this?
