MD 80 on iran air IR390?

Hey guys, just booked domestic flight for iran for my spring trip there.

THR-SYZ aseman
IFN-MHD iran air
MHD-THR iran air

interestingly enough the iran air flight IR390 IFN-MHD (25/03) is indicated to be flown by MD80, but that aircraft does not appear on their fleetlist... is it leased from IranAirTours?

Cool, but if I were you I would have tried to book mahan air since they are the best airlines in iran
Iran Air has leased a MD 82 with reg. UR-CJZ, probably it is this one.

Iran is an amazing country, quite modern is several aspects, yet it seems they are not branding conscious, all of the Iranian carriers have awful liveries like from countries that got free after break up of USSR but even many of those have got world class looks now, while only Iran Air seems to have some professional input and now Qeshm Airlines, Meraj is quite nice too.

There are so many professional schemes in the neighbourhood hope branding will go that way In Iran too, China is another country with still bad old fashioned liveries but are gradually improving, SF airlines being the most professional looking. Hainan and Xiamen follow close.

Pakistan International Airlines a returning to Iran with resumption of Mashhad service suspended since March 2007, from 25th Feb PIA will fly twice weekly 737-300 from Lahore and Quetta, http://www.piac.com.pk/schedule/disp...p?date=9:51:23 PM previously also served from Karachi.

PIA had also been serving Zahedan from 2011 to early 2013 with ATR42-500 twice a week from Quetta 737 was also used a few times, this route was suspended in 1983 and was served with Boeing 720 from Karachi and Quetta, while Tehran has been suspended since 1998, once upon a time THR was a stopover on their London route with 747-200 uptill 1979 from Islamabad, besides 707 from Karachi.

in 1997 THR was being served with A310 and 737 from Karachi going onwards to Baku.

Just as an example look at this livery of EC Air from Congo, couldnt Mahan have had a professional look along such lines considering its Iran's leading private carrier, also using classical Farsi script in branding dosent look nice, I have seen really modern type face being used in signage etc in Iran but it hasnt trickled down to the airlines, though Qeshm have got it right thankfully, plus the Persipolis FC livery, great development.

There're any Iran Air 747SPs operating any domestic flights or short/medium-haul flights or they just fly to PEK and KUL with them?

From what I seen on timetables seem that Iran Air uses aircraft registered by IranAirTours and vv.

Hey, I asked an Iranian friend for their credit card details, created booking accounts for each airline, so no real secret there, sorry.

You can book through agencies though, but they will make you pay a higher price. For instance Tehran-Shiraz one way, an agency such as http://www.aitotours.com/flights/ they say €48, but it actually is 130,000 tomans, so with the unofficial but realistic currency exchange, that's only 130,000/4000=32,5

...Thai phasing out A300-600...

Thai Airways International (TG, Bangkok Suvarnabhumi) is to bring forward its planned retirement of its last three remaining A300-600Rs, HS-TAT (cn 782), HS-TAX (cn 785) & HS-TAZ (cn 787). Collectively, the aircraft average 15.9 years of age the ch-aviation aircraft database shows.

The aircraft had been slated for withdrawal from October 25 but that has now changed with July 31 now set as the new date.

...do you think these might end up in Iran? fingers crossed.

Hi all, I'll be visiting Iran in June. Could you please advise me what kind of planes can I expect at route from THR to SYZ? I would like to fly some plane that I would not be able to fly in Europe (no booring A320!). I've checked that on morning flight no. W51089 Mahan Air uses their A300. Can I expect it always? If no, which flight could you recommend?

Hi, sorry for the late reply. Tehran to Shiraz is usually performed by Mahan A300 or 310 but please check with travel agency that you are booking your ticket through, they all know what model aircraft will be flying or tell your tour operators if you are going with a tour. otherwise, on the online booking facility of iran air and aseman you can see the plane type!
