Unfortunetly not yet. Maybe the A320 for Asseman I mentioned is one of these. I could speculate thst the BAE are for Mahan. Will update if I hear more.

Are you saying that because they have A340s which IranAir does not, or is this a new airplane they recently acquired? They have had 2 A340s in their fleet for quite a while, and so does Aseman.

Ok friends,

Some updates for you Iran aviation nuts.
  • From last week it has become official that 3 Iranian airlines are allowed to to charge what they want on domestic flights. International they have always had this freedom but now starting with Iran Air, Mahan, and Asseman they will be the first airlines to have this freedom of pricing. I have checked the Mahan website and they are already charging more for some routes that are busier. While the price prior to the liberalization is maintained for other areas that have normal demand. I have not found yet a route that has a lower price then the max limit allowed. But this is expected as all airlines have been taking the max allowed limit as they have been restricted for a almost a year so they wouldnt have been reducing now until supply increases and prices come down.
  • Mahan air has started a new Route to Yerevan, Armenia as of June 1st. Initally it was planned for 2 weekly flight but it seems after about 2 weeks they increased this to 3 weekly flights. They will be using the A310 with 2 classes on this route. Prior to Mahan, this route was only maintained by Iran Air from the Iranian side.
  • Also Mahan has increased their 4 weekly flights to Shanghei to 5 weekly flights.

The thing with Iran Air, in my opinion, is that it has been operating much older wide-bodied aircraft for some time (like decades) that it seems that Mahan Air and a few others have been acquiring newer widebodies lately (like after 2005 or so)... I still like Iran Air's B747SPs, yet, I think it needs to modernize its wide-body fleet to keep up with the times.

Some interesting news:

Mahan Air has started a "transit flight" starting from June 16 from Shanghai to Athens. They make a stop in Tehran and then continue to Athens picking up passangers that are in the Imam Transit hall (not having entered Iran). It is a once a week flight on Mondays. (Source Mahan website)
