Yeah, that's what I thought... it's not social norm at all, rather a government policy (cf observation I made in the previous post). It's really bad that sometimes, I would never know who did what with me if I were to make business with an Iranian person (especially if it was a woman).

Moving along: now that Emirates is retiring its A330s and A340s, could Mahan Air purchase some of those as second hand and refurbish its cabin interior?

I am not a fan if the A340. They are inefficient. A330 is much better. All major airlines are retiring the A340.

In any case if sanctions are lifted Iranian airlines should buy new planes which are much more cost effective. Until delivery they can lease any planes.

So, if Mahan Air would get the A330, how many would it be able to sustain and how many seats will it have?

Iran Air had ordered four A330-300 in 2000 later converted to A330-200, were they built?

YAAAYY this is so good news for me. What annoys me is that they still have not made it public themselves. I'm so curious what prices they will offer.

Last week Iran Air did a sightseeing tour for more than 300 aviation enthusiasts from around the world before retiring their Boeing 747 SP. This is the last commercial Boeing 747 SP in service and Iran Air is going to retire it shortly.

The tour lasted around one hour by departing from Tehran's Mehrabad airport and going to Caspian sea and returning back to Tehran.

A great trip report has been written by Sam Chui and if you like to read it please go to the link below:

Anyone know what domestic routes the 747SP will fly in the next 3 weeks and whether or not there is going to be another SP sightseeing flight? Same question for -200 as well

It would be interesting if the B747SP's final flight would be a DXB-IKA service, especially that Dubai is a major hub airport... and it is a short flight. Perhaps it could also do BOM-IKA as a final service, if not KUL-IKA. And I wonder what IR will get when those vintage aircraft have been retired for good...

According to Sam Chui EP-IAC will be based out of IKA on flights to Beijing, KL and Mumbai for the remainder of it's service. Probably some A340/330s will have appeared Iran Air's fleet by the time it's rescheduled retirement is due, like with Iran Aseman and Mahan Air, or maybe some 744s.

SP is looking much nicer painted full white, not a big fan of logos on engine though and Iran Air title could have been a few sizes larger as part of the refreshed look, but that would involve shrinking the flag or moving it back next to persian name, the english bit could be placed under the persian.

Germania started sales for iran flights. Flights from Dusseldorf and Berlin are now available.
Berlin is served twice weekly and they want 440euros for a return flight, which is a good price.

Hamburg-Mashhad flights are also available (1x weekly). 500euros return.
Apparently they have a stop in SAW on the return flight, maybe because they dont get refueled in mashhad?
