'm not sure, but 50 Biscayne is definitely not one of my favorites here in Miami.

Without the parking podium in the middle, this would be two very nice towers. But the white banding and the overall mass of the parking podium kills it for me.

The white banding is sort of a mystery to me too and makes me wonder what they were thinking. It looks a bit tacky to me. Yes, we would have two very nice towers without the parking podium in the middle, but then, you have to take into account the region in which we live, and the parking podium makes for a more stable structure overall. Our architecture speaks to the region in which we live in that way.

I'm with you on that one.
Not that the design is bad itself, but when there are 50 copies of it, I want to see another design.

This building okay for me. Not amazing, but not hideous either. This feels like its being built very fast though.

The Magic City

A sleek and glassy jewel for downtown Miami. I love the shades of aquamarine blue, turquoise blue, and seafoam green glass cladding they use. So tropical!

I disagree with those who express the opinion that: #1 - Miami has too many buildings with terraces/balconies; #2 - Too many of Miami's buildings look similar; and #3 The architecture is not bold or exciting enough.

My answer is: #1 Miami has a warm sub-tropical/tropical climate and the use of varandahs, balconies and terraces were always popular in that region; #2 the relatively uniform look of Miami's highrise buildings are harmonious and tasteful, that is why Miami's skyline reflecting in the in the glistening aquamarine waters of Biscayne Bay looks elegant and not gauche and kitschy like Dubai or Las Vegas; and #3 I would also like to see some a few truly unique and exciting new architectural designs, but the entities that are actually investing in and paying for these buildings must be a little more on the conservative side, so we must accept the lack of any radical designs in Miami architecture.

Miami, as pretty as it is, doesn't have any sort of building that I would call a architectural wonder at all. Not a one. Bank of America Plaza comes close and only then because it looks awesome at night.

Miami really needs to get rid of this trend of 50 story buildings with nothing but balconies. I want to see something bold and contempory. I want Miami to be on par with many of the great contempory cities out there (Los Angeles, Rotterdam, New York, Singapore and the like).

I actually prefer Wachovia/Wells Fargo over Bank of America, and bold and comtemporary is in the city's future plans. Give it time!

Amazing views from the top! I would take that view any day!

Its funny how little of Miami's building boom has been publicized, unlike Las Vegas. The city is truly blooming, and I'm sure the best is yet to come.

And here you have spoken my reason for creating this thread! I'm helping to ensure that the best is yet to come by creating compelling images of what is already here!

I'm sorry I couldn't get better lighting for this one, but I'll take another shot of Met2 from the roof of Bank of America once all of the curtain wall is in place at the end of the year. The sky was clear when I started to go up, and then, I got this.
