Like the refracting sheets of light that rise from a desert mirage, shimmering veils of glass define two towers, blurring the border between land and water or the desert salt flats and the Gulf. The veil-like folded sheets of glass that cover the entire front fašades create the sense of a patterned vernacular sunscreen and carve familiar shapes into the Dubai skyline on a monumental scale. Each tower bends and creases independently as it rises into the sky, creating both a sense of individuality and unity. This 1,500,000-square-foot high-rise development is divided into two distinctive, slender towers - one 53 stories and one 60 stories - situated on each side of a multi-story atrium lobby space. The Suites Tower houses hotel and luxury service apartments, while the Residential Tower houses rental apartments.

Man, the side view looks skinny as can be... these towers appear almost two-dimensional. But perhaps this shows the pointed angle, and the towers are a bit thicker in the middle. And the typical render-aesthetics often overemphasizes the effect of a tower a bit.

Whatever - two more towers near Sheikh Zayed Road within the sphere of influence of Burj Dubai, and The Private Office is already about to rise overground. These uneven twin towers will soon reduce the skyline gap between Millennium Tower (visable in the back of the pics) and Shangri-La Hotel.

Shangri-La is on the other side of SZR and far from these two. This complex is SZR facing exactly in front of Burj Dubai.

Yep, that's them. I run into Curt Fentress (the architect of these towers) from time to time at events in Denver, and sometimes he drops by our studio. Strange guy half the time. Personally these towers are among my absolute favorite designs in Dubai, speaking strictly aesthetically; I'm not partial to Fentress's work. They're just so genuinely modern and sleek, and the design philosophy going on here speaks of maturity and experience in architecture.

But, I haven't seen him in a little while. Does anyone know of these are a definite go?

Wow I can hardly keep up with all the Dubai construction, I think I've seen all the new towers, then a dozen more bubble up to the surface...

Not that it's a bad thing.
Here's to a full skyline.

Of course they're a definite go. The construction progresses ... although not as fast as we would wish for.

BTW, next time you see him you can ask how tall they are

That's a nice late Xmas present
I'm looking forward to these uneven twins, though I guess they're not going to be built as paper-thin as it appears on the renderings.

Seems like there's one big core is at lv6 for one tower, and two smaller cores at lv5 for the other. The second long building on the pics could be an adjacent car park IMO.
