Brisbane Road and Infrastructure Projects

In addition to the Gateway and Houghton Hwy, brisbane has several other road projects. Some are making more progress than others.

Starting with some pics of the Hale St Link:

Tank St Pedestrian Bridge (perhaps also a traffic hazzard and distraction) from Riverside Expressway (2009-02-10):

Love the pics, but surely they belong in their respective threads?

Don't think there is an Ipswich Rd thread.

(edit) After saying that I found one, I guess a good point is that a lot of the transport u/c threads are spread about between Transport, Qld main and Qld sub forums.

I think it's good to have one thread for all these projects in the transport section, rather then have different threads for each project and they fade off in the distance due to non-activity.

I lumped them into one thread here largely because they are in a close geographic proximity (may even see one project in the background of another) and feel they relate more to transport rather than office buildings and the like.

I often finding myself scratching my head as to which section and thread to post. Some posts I've made have been relevent to 10 threads or more in multiple sections.

Skysrapercity, which uses vBulletin for the forum, doesnt support a thread within more than one section or even cross linking (something phpBB can do with a couple lines of code). It also has a very poor search facility (forces me to use Google), and few have used keywords when starting threads.

a simple search of google, e.g.

site:www.skyscrapercity.com "Hale Street Bridge"

would have found you the specific project threads - there's usually one in the transport forum and one in the state forum. I don't think the search function on the site is working at the moment.

Get over it. It's much easier to read about these projects in this sort of thread then countless mini threads where no one contributes any meaningful information.

Thanks for the pics Marki, don't let these forum nazis on here deter you to keep up the piccies. (Y) When you sit back and realise the sheer amount of projects still underway in Brisbane it gets quite exciting to think how much smoother everything will be when it's all online in a couple of years or so.

From the blue Bridge at Goodna, just before the Logan Motorway Interchange. This is around 2:30pm so I guess this is quiet for the Ipswich Motorway. It was clogged with traffic at 9:30am that morning. This didn't surprise me though.

Towards Ipswich - the large sign has the old metro numbers on it still

Towards Brisbane

Zoomed in on the construction - note the overhead gantry sign being installed behind the Honda sign.

Hmmm the Gateway Bridge gets the nice classy toll gantry while the Kuraby plaza gets the shitty $2 one.

I find it incredible that Qld Motorways have chosen to install the toll gantries at the site of the existing toll plazas where the pavements are very wide. This is especially true of the Kuraby plaza in the second pic. Notice the wide lanes, this is just south of the toll plaza. Why didn't they move the gantry 500 metres or so further north where the road is just a regular 4 lane freeway? Still would've captured the same traffic, and could've saved bucketloads.
