All major world cities have a gang problem, the difference is that the media focuses on Los Angeles more than any other city. Maybe it's our own fault,.. since L.A. IS the media in some sence.

Los Angeles is a paradox,....you have Beverly Hills, Bel Aire and Malibu; Compton, Watts and South L.A. all within 10-20 miles.

Some believe it is the most complex city in the world, due to the melting pot of cultures, more then 200 languages are spoken here, you can find anything from the world.

Korea Town trully does feel like Korea, Chinatown, Little Armenia, etc. etc.

And making it work has been Los Angeles' success story. And something very important. Unlike New York and Chicago, Los Angeles has grown and developed much quicker in a shorter amount of time. 100 years ago New York was,....New York.........Los Angeles was a sleepy cow and orange grove cowboy town.

Yes, there is. LA is built on a highly seismic area (prone to earthquakes).

I love the pics !! LA and casablanca morocco ( where I was born ) has so many similarities
basicaly casablanca is a smaller version than LA
casablanca only has 4 million people ( city and all surounding suburbs )
LA as far as I know is 18 million ? ( city and all surounding suburbs )
great pics

I love this city and am so lucky to live here. Terrific shots, keep 'em coming!

To those of you who say that LA is gang-ridden; every major city has gangs. Sure south-central has a terrible reputation and there are some very scary areas. However, most of LA is safe and I have felt comfortable riding my bicycle all over the city at all hours and have never felt threatened. It's the media that blows LA's crime out of proporton. For most people here, it's a safe place to be

However, I can't for the life of me figure out where this freeway shot is?

One of the best threads that has come to this section in a while. Great job on presentation so far Kenni. I like how you have a theme for each post and keep the post in context while using amazing pictures without flooding the page. "Mega Cities" could be a great idea for large cities to be properly presented in this forum. Add to that quality photography and you've got one interesting thread to take part in and view. I hope it catches on. I would like to see one for London and Shanghai ( as it has caught my interest in the past few months),and am even tempted to do one for New York although I am less dedicated to create well thought and presented super threads like I used to be in here. I really like it. So we got the Palm Trees, Transportation....am I gonna even have to ask you for the beaches? Keep it coming...we want more.

Edit: Nevermind I see you already have a post on the beaches... how about a run through some cool neighborhoods? Nothing makes a city more than the neighborhoods and districts that form within it.

That is actually a great idea. A sub-forum for Alpha World Cities of Mega Cities, Megalopolis; which ever is more appealing.

Thanks or the compliments, it's my pleasure! I have so much more to present on this thread,.. and I think (credit to you) I will do some neighborhoods,...real life, how the simple angeleno lives.
